FC insurance Q

Just had a thought, not sure if its really daft, or even possible, but i turn to you mrs and mrs bcf.

I was thinking, of turning my insurance on a 4t 125 at 18 with 2 years no claims, to Fully comp, therefore giving me the tpo on other bikes.. now if im getting the thundercat, would i be able to ride that on tpo?

If there is an issue with owning the bike, i can sign the bike over to my dad.

if it works out cheaper to insure the 125 on fc than it is to insure the cat, is it worth doing? its around £500 for me on the cat tpo.

Cover to ride other bikes (which I've always had on tpft policies incidentally) generally requires the other bike to be insured by somebody.

It may not specifically state this on the policy, but think about it - it needs to be insured to be parked on the road (and when you're not riding it, it wouldnt be) and it needs to be insured to be taxed.

So if your dad was to insure the thundercat, then technically you could ride it on your 'other bikes' cover (though if it was your main bike, you could have issues if you ever needed to claim). But if you mean the thundercat wouldn't be insured by anyone, then no, not really.

After all, if it was that simple there would be a lot of insured c90s in garages while everyone was out riding 98 R1s.

and alot of insurance co's now requre you to be over 25 before they cover you TPO on other bikes

when i was 18 and got the gsxr750, i had insurance on other bikes, i didnt know i had it, and it saved my license.
(crashed test riding a bike that i thought i wasnt insured on )

I had the Third Party cover when I was insured TPFT on my CBR600. I also have it now on my FC policy for my SV, Im only 24 ATM.

If you think about the idea it would mean the boy racers could insure a 1 litre nova and have an impreza to run around in! Insurance companies arent stupid when it comes to saving money, they are stupid about everything else but not that!
