Hi,

Noticed a few weeks ago when stopping at traffic lights I'd hear a thunk which halfway sounds like a piece of metal hitting the floor, and a large escape of air.

Always thought it was something on the streets around me (Only happened 2/3 times) until I noticed about 30 minutes ago when I was riding that it happens when I use harsh engine braking.

Should I be worried about this?

Toby

Ah, I had this on my DT a few times ages ago, It turned out to be my rear brake calibre was loose and kind of thumping against something when I used the rear brake hard (if you know what I mean)

Ill try explain; The calibre is loose and its set back more than it should be, I slam on the brakes and the calibre moves forward with the disk untill the bolt stops it going any further resulting in a 'clunk'

Hope this helps Smile

I'm not hitting the brake by the way... I'm slowing down with the front, and letting go of the brake when revs drop, then knocking it down a cog, this is when it happens and ONLY if I badly misjudge (IE I'm going too fast before knocking down)

your sloppy chain knocking on your chain-guard.

I checked it last night, it's fine.

It sounds like a massive hit of air, but also sounds like my exhaust pipe just dropped off lol, I'm having trouble describing it.

I guess then could it not just be the header pipe moving slightly? remount the exhaust with all new gaskets and fixings - see if it stops.

I've order new gaskets, collets and exhaust head clamp, I can't get the old copper gasket out though.

So I've fitted the collects and new headclamp and nothing seems to have changed (Not that I expected it to).
