 |
|
I have an RS125 and soon Im going to be taking motorbike lessons to get me up to test standard so hopefuly I can take it and pass. Anyway, my bikes done 20 000 miles and I want to sell it when I pass and get a larger bike. I want a sports bike larger than 125cc and preferably not an RS125 or 250. A 1000cc might be a bit over the top as Im 17, if I pass I would have to have it restricted to 33bhp. Ive had my eye on the Yamaha R6 but wondered if it would be pointless getting one (taking into account that I pass my test) and having to restrict it to 33bhp. Any suggestions for bikes? Does anyone else think that it would be stupid to get an R6 and have to restrict it? |

I'm not sure about the insurance on a restricted R6, but I would think the bike would be wasted and depreciate whilst you're not getting the most out of it. Of course it would still look the business!
I believe a lot of people get a 400 restricted as the insurance is also reasonable.
I have an unrestricted ZXR400 which has served me well. What about getting a 400 - CBR, ZXR etc for a few years until you get unrestricted and bank some no claims discount. Then you could probably pick up a cheap used 2006 R6! ____________________ GSXR600 |

VFR400
ER-5
SV650(S)
Monster 600?

Dont see whats wrong with it if you can afford the insurance. Ofcourse insurance is more than a cheaper 500/400 but they just dont look as good  ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

I'd be against sports bikes or fully faired sports bikes ,
#1 they are harder than rat bikes to look after being dead finiky
#2 dropping a rat bike does <£10 damage even in quite fast drops
sports bikes and their fairings cost 100s-1000s to fix the fairings of , although you can ride without them they look ugly as sin.And I know people who've been so poor they can't afford to fix em so ride sans fairing , but it looks ugly. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Once I passed my test I had a 500 for 3 months then got my GSXR600K4, much better than the poxy 500 I had, even though it is heavier for the 33bhp it inspires so much more confidence and honestly I am glad I got it.
If you can afford it then do it. Plus I have 2 months until the restrictors come off, will be fun ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

I was 18 and had a R6, would still have it if it didn't get stolen. Mine wasnt 33bhp and no one really botheres with it, up to you whether you want the risk. I'll be getting a R1 in feb when my 33bhp is up. But for now.. Vectra SRi
Insurance isn't too bad, was £700 tpft for me at 18 with 1 yr NCB. |
