Basically I need a new cam chain (I think) and the valves are due to be checked.

Can anyone please recommend anyone in the Manchester area to carry out the work?

Anyone hear or been to Kickstart motorcycles, Manchester?

Cheers!

you don't say where in Mancs some good mechanics are:

Speedwells (Radcliffe) , the bald guy is a cunt

However the gay one is a good guy , and if you cush up to him you can get a discount.

Good , tells you before he starts any repairs $$$$$ Ask for him or Bill or the old beardy guy called William who will always give you 10% off any marked price the old guy and the bald guy will not.

Warricks (Heywood)

Good guy cheaper than speedwells , mechanics have very colourful language and use the F word at least 5 times a sentence.
Average prices quick service.

Regents, Bury

Looks HIGHLY dodgy but isn't (looks like a scrap yard which it actually partially is) , very cheap repairs , fairly good workmanship , but the mechanics are lazy cunts they will agree a price and take all day over it and not always put back unimportant parts ie they'll give them back to you in a bag to put back yourself. Though sometimes loses bits to put back on , and tends to use real crappy parts unless you bring them into him , which sort of removes the cost advantage completely.

ESB (Bolton,centre).

Pros , astronomical costs , astronomical parts patronising irritating attitude , v good though

Concorde M/Cs (Bolton Farnworth)

Good honest guy who has very colourful langage and has tourettes since every 2nd word is either the F or the C word, fairly cheap nut not had too many personal dealings with him.

Bury M/C centre (Bury new road)

Avoid like the plague , damages bits to boost his income , does sloppy work and damages plastics and paint in the process (just look at his New bikes they are covered in scratches and is generally hated by everybody but noobs who don't know better).

Phillip Youles

not had much exp with him , but from others seems an OK guy who charges about the average.

oh BTW

speedwells won't do valve clearances (you can have them done but pay loads for it) ,

the others will but will make you pay for it

regents won't do valve clearances either.

Cheers for the replies, i've noted the ones down I like the sound of.

Concorde I know them, he did the MOT on my RS few months back, seemed a decent guy. Didnt know they did valve clearances.

Would be handy me going there though as hes only 4 miles away.

Has anyone had a major service done there?

I didn't know they did either, you have to ask:

some pointers btw to get you a few quid off:

if going to Regents or Warricks , say Ged a fat guy with a silver Pan and a victory cruiser sent you he runs a bike school and he is good friends with both of these shop owners.

Warrick also knows a guy called Micheal Basnett (Mick) tell him he recommended you (big red pan , born radcliffe , uses the F word more than he breathes) and he sometimes (not always) gives a better price.

EDIT MICK might actually be dead as I saw a big red Pan his colour , and with similar accessories in many many bits accross Bury/Bolton Road with a huge red stain (might have been blood), and nobody has seen him for a while,

Speedwells bill also sort of knows Mick , but this does not lower prices at all.

Another one is A&S Motorcycles, or Andy, i'll have dig his number out for you. He was a mechanic at E.S.B before he got his own business, he's a breaker plus a mechanic, bit of a slow arse, but he gets it done to good quality.

If you want me show you where it is Tecky mate, give me a pm either on here or 125cc forum (aprilialad2k4 on there ) Thumbs Up

Should of walked you lazy gett! only 10 mins walk past Strangeways and the Old Boddys Brewery to City Centre. But with £600 worth of kit its not advisable, could be in a worse location, like Cheetham hill Sick its spot the white man round there, or rather spot some one that isnt an Asian Gangsta.

yes it fucking is rough , its well rough , I remember in 1999 when I was knobbing a bird in London and was in Manchester for a week , I had to get the bus in , on the road where it turns off to Salford shite area near the big McDs I saw a woman get stabbed to death there from the window of a bus in broad daylight by a bunch of chav cunts.

Nearby is the local death zone , nobody stops for traffic lights there.

Take it you got the 98 bus to Manchester then! Lower Broughton isnt as bad as some places tho. But its a hell of a rough place tho. Mind you saying this tho, gf's house (parents) is really really nice 3 bedroomed, 2 bathroomed was only £120k ! And having her live 2 mins away from Heing Gericke is handy, just rung her before to pick my leather jacket and Booti's that i ordered up for me Very Happy

Itchy when we going for a drink, and whereabouts you living? Im either In Blackely (gf's pub) Broughton (her house) or Harwood in Bolton (my house)
