I know you can ride to an MOT without an MOT and Tax, but what if i were to pick up a bike, book an MOT where i live, and ride the 150 miles to it?
Cheeky i know, but is it legal (i have insurance).

You'd have a hard time convincing the police if they pulled you over that your nearest MOT station is 150 miles away. They may even be nice to you and point out and escort you to a closer one, in the middle of nowhere.

I don't think it'll hold up if you're stopped, no.

The law is there so that you can get to an MOT to get it MOT'd. The polcie would be correct to nail you for going to one miles away and not your closest, as you'll be endangering more people with a vehicle on the road that is potentially unroadworthy.

I've got to go to fazakerly for mine (about 12 miles away), but i have to do that because they're the closest cagiva dealer. Since they're the only people able to get the parts (because the rest don't realise it shares parts with ducatis and aprilias), would i be able to argue that i had to go to that one, because the rest can't make it roadworthy?

Well if the rest genuinely can't make it roadworthy then I imagine it'll be fine.

If your reason is genuine then you will be fine. Just tell the truth and it'll be fine. proximity's reason isn't genuine, yours is.

Get it MOT'd where you buy it, or get the seller to MOT it.

id say as long as it isnt in a dangerous state, you'd get away with it!
Just dont crash or draw attention to yourself!

Why not MOT it where you are then ride home, since you are covered for the tax on the journey there and back to your permanent residence. I was pretty sure you could have an MOT booked anywhere you like in the UK, I never use my closest garage and im pretty sure theres no law saying you have to.

The vehicle needs to be 3 years plus. Also you cant drive around looking for an MOT testing station- you can only get away with it if you are taking it to/from the MOT station.

To clear it up. This rule only applies if you have a pre-booked MOT, and you have told the MOT station that you are travelling there without an MOT or tax. This is so that the police can call the MOT station to confirm.

You will be insured, as long as you are travelling to a pre-booked MOT, as described above.
