Hi there guys, basically as the military man of our group of mates, i've been tasked with planning our first international road trip.

I've taken the guys over a lot of the UK, some bad places and some good ones, and arranged accomodation etc with a minimum of fuss.

However ive not been out boozing in Europe so my skills are going to be tested on this one.

Basically there will be between three and seven of us (last minute road trip numbers vary wildly)

Now i dont really wanna do amsterdam or prague, as im missing a trip to prague with them next month, and being in the forces id rather not be tempted to sample the stuff that is legal in amsterdam.

So basically im looking for somewhere we could split petrol and drive to within reasonable distance (about 500 miles would do), with a good night scene, maybe even cheap drinks and lodgings.

please help me out with ideas/experiences......

any help appreciated

What about getting cheap flights instead of driving?

Maybe try barcelona? Madrid?

Prague or Hamsterjam.

Job done.

Prague reaaaaaally cheap, hamsterjam = drugs and whores

Search Amsterdam on here for reams of info on it, recent trip there.

Edit: That'll learn me.

Ok go to cyprus. Very cheap there, and very cool.

Hamburg! , they have the notorious Reeperbahn there , and lots of verra cheap pubs , esp if you wake up and go to the riverside for breakkie , you get jets flying right over your head which scares the crap outta everybody who is hung over.

Hamburg`s a laugh, I went there on a Stag. Easy enough to get around. Bit rough mind.

I`ve not long come back from madrid, good place to go for a piss up some cracking bars. Bloody easy to navigate their Metro system, even when you're pissed!

Yep, Madrid I agree with too!! Milan is too expensive really. Frankfurt is quite nice too. They have moved our hotel to the outskirts now though so its a bit if a treck for us. Hotels fab though.

Ive been belgium, prague, amsterdam and bratislava.

Prague is no longer as cheap as they claimed it was unfortunately. Amsterdam is not a drinkers place (Im a drinker not a smoker, or pervert!), belgium is full of boring people.

Bratislava is in slovakia (formerly chekoslovakia) and claimed to be like prague but 10 years ago. It lived up to all the claims, a steak dinner for 4 quid, a pint for about 50p (but the more popular the bar the more it got), strip clubs were 20 quid for a private strip, there were brothels if that takes your fancy (some lads went out in taxis, the taxi driver waited an hour for them and then brought them back cost them about 20 quid per car), you can do go-karting, gun shooting etc etc. On the first day we hit the beer at about 2pm and came home at 4am after spending 30 quid all day. The downside is that it can be a bit violent, but only if you act like a complete arse.

Hopefully doing germany next year and getting back to praha in january.

Just to let you know, the Chueca distrist is mostly gay bars. Fair enough if that`s your thing.

But we found it by accident..... Laughing Laughing

Also go on the net, download the Madrid metro map. It`s set out like the London underground. It`s a piece of piss to follow. Very cheap to get around.

When you get to the airport station, go to the ticket office and ask for a book of ten tickets. It costs about 6 euros (four quid ish) once you`re on the metro you can go anywhere on one ticket until you walk out of the station.

Also check out here.

I`m a bit busy at the moment, I see what I can think of later.

Most of the shops are based around the Gran Via and Calle de la Cruz.

For the stag, If you go to a strip club, don`t go to the one off of Gran Via that`s between Plaza de espana and santo domingo metro stations. It`s basically a brothel, no shows. There`s another one, can`t remember where it was (I`ll see if one of my mates remembers...) It was a bit more up market, lap dancing, shows, beers in either where about six quid. They always are though... Laughing And always, always haggle the entrance fee.

We got in for nothing!

Nice restaurants and bars around Playa Mayor.

The beers aren`t horrifically expensive, but then I`m used to London prices anyway. They do get expensive when you drink in the hotel. I don`t think we took alot of notice of prices, we just organised a whip, paid for all the drinks out of it and when it ran out, we topped it up again.
