Copied from another forum I frequent:

"Two bikes were stolen from outside the Thumper Club tent at the BMF on Friday night/Saturday morning (between midnight and 6am):

Honda SLR650, Black with purple trim, has Supermoto wheels - R29 GBV
Yamaha XT600, Blue - H81 VYA

I'm posting this in case anyone local hears any information or sees them being ridden around.

There's a picture here of the SLR, which is my girlfriend's bike:

https://oscarthecat.fotopic.net/p26307369.html

only it now has a high-level front mudguard. There is a small tear on the left side of the seat.

When we reported it to the marshalls, having first called the police, we were told that the two gates in that corner of the site had been left unlocked overnight. So basically, you needed a pass to get into the secure display area, unless you're coming during the night to nick bikes, in which case you can just walk in and out again. Or drive in with a van. Worth remembering if anyone is tempted to go to the BMF's sh*tty little show in future, which I'm uinlikely to be if that's the extent of their security.

In the unlikely event that anyone does have any info, please ring Cambridgeshire Police on 08454 564564.

When we spoke to them, their money was on local pikeys, but knows. I don't suppose we'll see the bikes again.

This picture shows how it looks now, with the new, high-level mudguard. It`s quite distinctive, as most SLRs have neither the 17" wheels nor the high-level mudguard:

Thanks for looking. Thumbs Up

Seems like an opertunist thing.. sure there were more expensive bikes there.. offroady bikes are prime pikey scum targets.

Thumbs Down shity that though, whats the point in security that only lasts till it gets dark Rolling Eyes

I was questioned about locking up my bike at a rally the other weekend, i said force of habit, but nowhere is safe, pikey shits will have the first thing not locked..

Hey, im local - like 1 mile down the road from the Showground itself.

I will keep an eye our for the bikes, i know a few local pikey sites around the place that it might be... But my odds are actually on bushfielders.

That wont mean anything to people from outside 'Boro, but its basically the housing area the other side of the dual carraigeway on the edge of the showground fence.

Will keep my eyes peeled for the bikes Thumbs Up

Poor dad.

He bought a 15 year old XT600 a couple of months ago to replace his SRX600. Absolutely loved it.

He went up to the BMF rally in Peterborough yesterday and when he woke this morning somebody had stolen his bike. Another girl's trailie was gone too. I'm gutted for him.

By some odd circumstances that I won't bore you with, his bike only had 200 miles on it when he bought it, so on the vague off chance that anyone sees a ridiculously low mileage blue Yamaha XT600 about, please let me know. Better still, call the police there and then. I can't believe there are any other 15 year old XT600s with so few miles on.

Now I have to go and get him tomorrow and I feel guilty about getting a new bike on Wednesday.

Welcome to Peterborough, hope you enjoyed your stay!

In all seriousness I'll keep an eye out, however it might be worth them:

Calling up Taz's and Webb's giving them a heads up and more importantly keeping eye out on the Corby papers. Don't want to be an ass but I doubt they'll ever see 'em again, I had two huge bass guitar cabs stolen, not alot you can do with them other than play bass through em, very distinctive. Did the police find them? Nope, but they did catch a few speeders! Huraah.

Will keep an eye out, might be worth posting on here: https://www.cambsbikerforum.co.uk:8080/phpBb2/index.php

Oh and if theres any bikes locally you want checking out then we can do that I'm sure.

Also do you have plate numbers?

Guessing those are the plate numbers.

If i see another in the paper then i will check it out again. This one just sounded too different to be it...

We all enjoyed the BMF again this year, though we did hear about some bikes going missing, made us remember last year waking up to find somoen had been in our tent during the night, a couple of others had had their wallets stolen to. This year i took locks for the inner parts of the tents, not much i know if someon really wants to be in but at least a bit of a deterant to them.

I chickened out of taking my bike this year due to the weather and seeing as i nearly wrapped my car around and under the back end of a lorry on the A1 traveling home im pleased i made the choice to leave it at home, wouldnt have been able to pull the bike out of the skid like the car.

Good luck with finding the bikes, keep us posted on anything, not so sure we will hear anything about them up here in Notts but you never know.
