How to use BCF chat with an IRC client

Far too often people come into the IRC room via the live chat, and want to use an IRC client but it's beyond the scope of their computational prowess. So I thought I'd make this walkthrough.

First navigate to www.mirc.com

Then click on 'Download mIRC' on the left menu

Pick a mirror close to you, click the link and click Save.

Save it to a location you'll be able to find again, I chose my desktop. Then hit save.

Navigate to wherever you saved the file to, and double click on it. Depending on your operating system, you may have to click run, like illustrated.

Hit next

Hit install

Select 'Launch mIRC' and click finish.

You should be faced with this screen first, although you may have press continue to a small box before hand telling you that you really should pay for it etc etc. Fill in your details here, none of it is important, you don't have to use a real email address, or real name. Although the 2 nicknames will be the name it shows you chatting from. If the first is taken, the second will be used. If that's taken you'll be prompted to enter a third.

Then click on 'Servers' on the left, and change the 'IRC network' drop down box to 'Undernet'. Click connect to server.

In this box enter #bikechatforums then click join.

Bingo bango, a world of useless chat at your fingertips.

I know this is too basic for most people, but I have to cater for the lowest common denominator.
