Heres the story i went to get my MOT done on my VRF400 nc30 today and because of the new MOT system your bike has to be logged in on the system fine , .But when i went to give the mot er my V5 document, the vin number on the V5 is completly different to the one on the bike, the one on the doc says the bike is a V400FD as its starts NC13- but mine is a NC30- Shocked ? im sure when i bought the bike it said NC30- on the doc before it was sent off to the DVLA and i have the orginal jap import doc stating thats the bikes VIN number. all the rest of the information on the V5 is correct reg number, owners, import date colour ect . ive had it MOT ed under the bikes reg and its VIN number, what the hell should i do as i cant sell it as the V5 stands Confused

yikes Shocked i'd hpi it to check it's history, but this may or may not help your situation, i simply don't know. Surely there must be some way you can notify the DVLA using the import documents.

The HPI and import docs should be enough for you to tell the DVLA they have fucked up. Not sure if you would need any other information. I expect Keith should be along soon to clarify things Thumbs Up

Hi

God knows. Think the DVLA will update the docs. Wonder how many other times this has happened.

All the best

Keith

You might stand more chance of sucessfuly sorting it out if you take the documents down to your local DVLA office rather than trying to do it by phone/post with Swansea.

Give them a bell and explain the situation. If it were me, I'd frame my enquiry in general terms, just in case they try any crap like taking the bike off the road.

You'll find their number in the phone book.

If you send ANY original documents to Swansea, make sure you have a copy of them first, just in case anything gets "lost".

a friend went through something similar a few years back.
he had an m3 that when the docs came back from swansea had the chassis no of an old vauxhall van that had been scrapped.
took him months of hard work with the idiots at dvla to get the numbers sorted.
so good luck but dont expect to get it fixed with a phone call

I had a similar sort of problem on one of my bike forms all I did was correct it as an alteration in the owner details with the correct info and just sent it back (after I had photocopied it) 2 weeks later new one arrives with correct alterations. Problem sorted.

As with any government department suggest theres a problem with a letter and you will start a national enquiry causing everybody fromthe tea lady upwards trying to cover their arses and find a way to lay the blame on you.

i MOT'ed my nc30 earlier in them month only to be told by the MOT guy, that as far as the dvlc were concerned, my bike didn't exist Shocked

Even though I have the v5, and its been in this country for 6 years...

It was fine in the end, he just created the record himself on their system Confused

looking at the old jap import doc today i noticed that the nc13-e number is on the doc aswell as the nc30-***** vin number as its in japenese cant under standand a word, so i assume the nob who registered the bike put that number in instead of the frame number on the bike Confused so its been like that since the bike has been in the country Shocked . should i fill out the changes to vehicle part on the V5 and send it off or will it look dodge that in changing both the engine number and frame number at the same time ???
