Americans are far too quick to blame genes for being overweight.

Was a good programme last night, Richard Simmons owns.

Personally I think the main problem with obesity lies in junk food (Yeah, don't tell me I'm quoting the obvious just yet)

You never get people that size craving steak or a grilled chicken breast with lots of veg.

I wouldn't be surprised if junk food/sweet manufacturers add ingredients to certain foods to make them addictive. It has been known before.

It is also terrifying how quick they are to promote gastric surgery when there are plenty of other viable alternatives available.

Also made me sick after one of the subjects had gastric surgery, his wife bought him KFC to eat, and he was lying on a bed eating crisps.

This reinforces my dim view of society and how much crap is on our supermarket shelves, I think that we as human beings are entitled to fresh, well made food and we also need more awareness on how to count fat/carbs (Why don't they teach nutrition in school?)

It's all very well the goverment sitting back and allowing people to get like this, then simply sending them for gastric surgery. But it's not fair.

People need educating, not stapling, also think junk food should be investigated as to WHY it's so addictive.

I could ramble for hours about this, something that really beggars belief.

Yeah I lost all sympathy for the half ton man when he stated his problem was genetic cos he didn;t eat much WTF, u fat mutha? Your problem is the fifteen fucking meals waiting to be digested inside your three litre capacity gut! I felt sorry for some of the people, but the half ton man was just a fucking idiot who didn;t realise how lucky he was that there is people out there trying to help him.

The wife should have been arrested as well for helping him kill himself as I can;t believe anyone would be as thick as to keep feeding their husband when he is 70 stone and has excriment smeared over himself....like WTF is going on when you think that is an acceptable way for your husband to be She was partly responsible for helping him kill himself as all she had to do is say no as the fat guy could walk!

Maybe I'm being harsh, but he had more help financially and medically to stop him from eating himself to death and after all that help he still lays on a bed of crisps, stuffing himself. Disgusting.

food manufactures are allowed to add this addictive ingredient.
Pringles contain the maximum amount allowed (hence once you pop you can't stop).

Its the same with cigerettes though, stating the obvious I know, but the only reason you're spending hundreds / thousands of £ on fags is for that addictive ingredient, which they have riddled them with.

These companys have got a firm grip of your nad sack & they are killing you.

One of my exes was like 14 stone and I thought he was a bit of a heiffer (he was only 14 at the time and I was 13). He's a stick compared to that lump. His wife is just as much to blame as he is. Disgusting, both of them. I don't blame genetics at all. He clearly made no effort to keep thin and allowed himself to get into such a hideous state.
He also said he ate no more than the average perosn, yet the research showed that he ate like, 10 pizzas a day because they worke dout his average calories in take!
How can he ever hope to help himself sort the problem out if he cant even be honest with himself and everyone else as to what he actually eats?

i agree with the possibility of a fat gene-but if you are too lazy to work off the extra calories you eat-then whose problem is that?
