Just read on the BBC that Steve Irwin has finally met his match.
Seems he got stunk by a stingray whilst diving off the barrier reef.
Have to say its hardly surprising. It was only a matter of time before his luck ran out!

The guy was a legend, who cared deeply for the wildlife he brought to our screens so enthusuiastically. He died doing something relatively safe compared to the mad antics he got up to with crocs and snakes. I think he will be sadly missed Sad

As many times as I said it would happen, it's still a shock.

It is almost amusing at first but very sad in reality considering his young family.

RIP.

Very sad, the guy was a legend and i loved his shows, i actually feel quite upset about his passing Sad

Apparently this is the first recorded case of a man being killed by a stngray in the waters of Australia, how unlucky is that?! Confused

Just came here after hearing and was going to start a topic but someone but me to it!

He was an absolute legend and he'll be missed by loads. Deepest sympathy goes out to his Wife and two kids.

What's wierd is that he's only the second EVER victim of a stingray in Australia to actually die from their injuries. Really wierd considering his knowledge but at least he died doing what he loved Smile

Not so.

Can't say I liked the guy as never met him. Can't say I didn't like the guy as never met him. Condolences to wife and children on their loss.

Someone has to restore a sense of proportion to the subject

Highly unlikely, she never wanted her kids to grow up to be bland and apathetic.
