RE: Bikesafe etc

Whilst I try to ride safely and with consideration for other road users (maybe with the exception of DrBodySocket if I reckognised him)
...Would nobody else be concerned they might do you for a minor infraction if it came to it?
I'm actually taking advanced riding lessons as I want to increase my ability, but the idea of a Police tail puts the shits up me way more than the bike test did, and I was crapping myself on that.

ROSPA.

Cheaper than IAM. Still populated by rozzers etc, but they are generally not averse to a bit more "making progress" than strictly allowed.

Bikesafe at the Ace Cafe (back in 2004) consisted of

Arrow Classroom session & defensive riding

Arrow Morning assessed ride - leaving the Ace Cafe, up the A40, into Uxbridge and around Harefield/Northwood, a few NSL and twisty roads.

The rules from the sergeant running it were "We won't do you if you run loud pipes, dark visor and a small plate. We won't nick you for doing 10-20% over the speed limit. Don't take the piss. Just ride how you normally ride and we shall assess you accordingly"

So, I filtered progressively down Hanger lane and rode how I normally rode.

Arrow Post ride briefing - Constructively picks up on what you're doing wrong and makes a point of what you're doing right. In my case, my filtering speeds were excessive - i.e. 30mph between stationary traffic. Copper following me was on his personal Harley 1200 sportster!

Lunch

Arrow Afternoon session on accident investigation, KSI stats etc and emphasis on roadcraft etc.

Arrow Afternoon ride - Hopefully, with all that feedback and scaremongering fresh in your mind, you would hopefully have a better outlook.

Arrow Post ride debrief - if you haven't taken anything on board, then you are destined to be a potato. But if you have, you'll probably end up buying roadcraft and probably Twist of the Wrist at the same time.

I've done a few advanced riding assessed rides with RoSPA and IAM here in Gloucestershire, but they focus on what hazards are prevalent around here (road conditions, reading the road etc). In London, the key skill is definitely about defensive riding, planning and forward obervation, whilst making safe progress.

If OP was insightful enough, and less of a social media whore, then hopefully, he'll take these wise words. Else the next youtube vid he might be posting up will be on his behalf by Metropolitan Police collision investigators.

Did a bikesafe last year, well worth the time - almost 2 hour observed ride with a police escort ...... and someone to filter through traffic behind. Worth it just to see the looks on cagers faces "he's brave tailgating that copper through the traffic" Very Happy

As for OP - zero life preservation skills. It isn't playstation, it's not GTA - when you splatter off something hard in real life, you don't get to reset the game and try again.

Hmm his 'experience' wasn't mine - no slating, no IAM advertising, got a couple of useful pointers about using all of the road and how to properly plan a safe overtake but no preaching or anything else.

So i think as ever, it depends who you get and what you want from it.

The only butthurt here is yours, when you don't get the reception you want but think you deserve, and when your inability to keep up with traffic on the open road causes you to pretend-play Mr Billy Big Balls in a traffic jam in the town centre, in a desperate attempt to convince others that your balls have dropped. Nothing new about your aims, but your utter lack of athletic ability, coordination and riding skill does seem new!

If your aim was to earn contempt and derision at your inept and slow, but dangerous, riding sub-30mph, then you've succeeded. What do you want to achieve here? A medal for bullying a woman motorist? A 1000-subscriber badge? To lose a licence you don't even hold? To suffer debilitating injury or death? You could do all that shit you do in your videos with a bicycle and a skateboard, and have enough left over for a decent camera to boot. In fact, please do it with a bicycle, because the attention you're bringing is bad. In my last post I asked you why you thought we don't do what you do. The fact is, we're smarter... Same reason why you don't film it and post it on Youtube when you steal Shandy from the off-licence. Why steal Shandy if you're allowed to buy wine? Oh wait, you're not allowed to do that either, probably. And if you're going to steal, why broadcast it to the world? Idiot.

Meh, probably went to some underfunded comprehensive in NW London, so I can expect & tolerate the insolence.

OP

Blud, it seems my words have fallen on deaf ears. In which case, you don't have my remorse. But I will offer you one final piece of advice.

You'd get more likes on insta if that's what you wanted! You probably won't be able to get your videos monetized on youtube because of the swearing and aggressive behaviour, and the fact that you're using Pompeii Bastille as your opening intro will mean it will get flagged up by copyright. Might I suggest you use a track from NCR (NoCopyrightRecords) instead?

Use the following hashtags if you want up your profile

#Bikelife
#BikelifeTV
#BikelifeTV
#UKRaiseItUp
@Ashman46
#R1Boyz

All the best in your social endeavours. Thumbs Up

Oh I don't mind the insolence one bit - there's often a bit of wit in cheek. No - it's the ignorance that galls.

The vast majority of us went to shit schools - but not all of us are so ignorant we can't realise it, and then educate ourselves to be smarter generally, and also specifically in the stuff that interests us most. This knob is stupid on all fronts - could well be terminal too. You tried though so that's cool.

Yeah not really good enough, pal.

Guy gives some decent advice so least you could do is not be a dick.

Just saying ooh everyone's telling me to go ride under a lorry doesn't mean you can't acknowledge the one person who's NOT saying that.

Drop the victim routine and man the fuck up to the fact that you suck at life and riding, but that with a bit of graft and common sense you can turn shit around and be a decent person with an actual functioning pair of balls.

This. Go get some lessons and come back, you may get a better reception.

Otherwise you can fuck off and die under a lorry and stop bothering us. You don't have a clue, and are going to get pancaked if you carry on, but you're too fucking dense to see it and do something about your total and utter lack of skill on 2 wheels.

Unless your aim is to end up in the ground with your dead homie as fast as possible, I genuinely don't get it.

Keep riding the way you are and you will die very soon. I couldn't care less either way; I just hope you don't injure or kill or otherwise affect anyone else in the process.

OP, you're getting heat because people care about the person who's life you are going to end (or severley affect) AND you.

Watching your videos reminds me of the people strapped to the front of cars in Mad Max - but you're doing it voluntarily.

If you want an adrenaline rush of that sort, try MDMA and amphetamines. Please.
