Battery drain issue

Update:

Power was dropping when connected to the bike but doesn't when not connected so I looked for parasitic draws again.

In the past someone swapped the reg for one that has a wire directly to the battery and this is unfused so any drain on that wouldn't appear if using the fuse connector to test. The drain is 50ma on that wire so my reg is dying.

This is also likely to be responsible for the majority of the 20ma draw I found on the fuse box especially as Mr Haynes (rest in peace) says the draw should not exceed 1ma.

This combined with wemotos lack of charging ability has caused me to lose my sanity.

This reminds me of old Hondas which often used a Shindengen RR which had a black external sense wire patched into the
switched power/ignition on side of the loom.
This was probably fine originally and intended to compensate for voltage drop in use with say, lights on.
Over time (years) poor connections/weather/abuse/neglect could cause the connection to 'float' and the batteries could get over charged.
As an experiment I started patching my sense wires directly to the battery pos and always got a steady 14.2V when running with no detectable drain issues.
Parasitic drain was mentioned as a possible side effect if this but in my case it wasn't an issue

It's almost impossible to say why this method worked for years for me
without comparing the circuitry of the devices involved.

Yuasa and Mottobat are what I've been using for donkeys.

I was using Yuasa but a couple of them died early even when connected to a ctek charger.
The mototbatt in my k1300 has been in there for about four years now.
I suspect its due to be replaced as its sounding a bit dour to start. It usually birls the hoowur over like there's nothing to it.

I just price checked a battery.

So, reg replaced because it was clearly leaking when it wasn't supposed to but we have a new problem.

I think we are back to starter motor judging by the bad noise.

It makes the same noise if you bypass the solenoid so it's not that.

Just swapped out my old battery for an Atom AGM, and it’s been solid so far. I ride pretty regularly, and my bike was starting to struggle with my current battery. The Atom AGM caught my eye because it's reasonably priced and there is a video of it being frozen in ice and then immediately starting up a bike.

I noticed the difference right away; the bike fired up quicker than before. I’ve taken a couple of longer rides since then, and it’s holding up well. I’m not constantly thinking about whether the bike will start, which is a nice change.

That said, it’s still early days, so I can’t speak to long-term durability. But from what I’ve read in reviews, it seems to stand up well to long term abuse.

Overall, if you’re looking for a reliable AGM battery that won’t break the bank, this one seems like a good option. I really don’t see any difference between it and the yuasa that was in it, other than it was more than half the price. So far, I’m happy with it. honestly I don't know the difference between AGM and get for me, and I assume lithium is better but it's too expensive.
