I see the pipe you mean. Yesterday when I removed it, fuel flowed freely. What I can do is maybe disconnect it into a jar, see if water comes out as well. That would indicate water in the tank.

I fear that you may have disconnected the wrong pipe.

Didn't have a choice. Somehow, with removing the carbs and the float bowls, everything got set out. So now I can't pick up the idling speed and get hesitation when I blip the throttle while idling. I assume it's the screw where you adjust the sync. So going to work on that. But yeah, removed the pipe to remove the carbs so fuel went, buyyyyeeeee.

Only way water can get into the float bowl is from the tank. Only way it can get into the tank is from the filler or breather.

.. and condensation

Fair fair. I'll have to do a test in the cap and and stuff. Breather is on the carbs so maybe the pipe has a tiny hole. I have no idea. But I'll start with the cap, the easiest option for now.

So had a look. Water, well fuel, is indeed creeping past the fuel cap and down the breather hole. Should I seal the cap better let nothing gets through? I thought the idea is air should get sucked in to prevent the tank from creating a vacuum. But if air can get in, water can get in. So I'm at a loss of what I'm supposed to do. As for the wrong pipe disconnected, had to get that tank fixed on. But currently bike is with tank off, fuel drained, carbs checked and set to factory for now. So let's hope it all works. Just have to figure out what to do with water getting into the vacuum hose.

Alright, so still struggling. Since the water got into the carbs, issues issues. So i took the carbs off and cleaned the bowls. Great, the bike would ride. But then suddenly had the issue of on idle, when you give throttle, it will dip and lurge for a second and then go. Also, doesn't want to idle higher than 1000 rpm. If you set the idle screw higher, the revs drop slowly. Anything from about 3k it will slowly drop down back to 1000rpm.

I don't know what I messed up but I can't figure it out. I did adjust the pilot screws at first, hoping that might be the issue but didn't make a difference. So I set them back to what they had been, which was factory standard, and that didn't make a difference. I did a bench sync, as what I did before, still doesn't make a difference. The bench sync is as close as I can get it with the eye, which is almost exactly as I had it before. So it should be running well, but it's not.

Everything else is exactly as it should be. Fuel tap is open, lines go into the correct spots. Once you go, the bike goes, no worries there. It's the bottom rpm that's messed up.

Also checked the floats, they're sitting at the factory suggested 17mm. Sounds super high and I get a lot of pops and bangs when letting off the throttle but that's what the factory suggested.

Any help? I'm at a loss now.

Feels like I'm doing my own little diary here on the bike haha. Love it.

So carbs are mostly fixed. It was the sync after all. I must have really screwed up the bench sync. But rode to work, lifted the tank and just adjusted it to ear. Waiting for end of the month to buy a sync tool to get them settled in perfectly.

In the meantime, I have to figure out how the fuel cap should seal. Should there be an o ring? A washer or something? Something that prevents water from getting in. Since that's my issue now.

And clutch. Need to do clutch ates as well.
