There's two things to consider: an external DAC is a little better isolated from sources of noise and a decently built (not necessarily expensive) unit will have a flat output. Gaming DACs and headphones are almost always "coloured" to be bass heavy.
I'm sorry, if the original composer wanted to you to vibrate the wax out of your ears that's the way the track would have been laid down to start with. It's presumptive of manufacturers to tell consumers "this is what you like, trust me bro!"
