I have a Gilera 180 runner. Right down the bottom of the revs it has a terrible stutter but once the revs go up the motor powers on like normal. The bike has been like this since i bought it but now it is really starting to pee me off. I'm going to give it a service soon and any tips from anyone out there would be much appreciated. Could it be a question of raising the needle slightly? Not 100% sure on carb' settings etc though. (Or could it be it just needs a good clean out?)

Thanks

Tim

im not very scooter minded, but if it was a car i would put it down to sparking problem.check things like plug,lead,coil...usually when a coil is on the way out it wont give a full power under load at low revs, but when you get the revs up high it works ok.to test this find out in the manual how much resistance the coil should have and test it with a multimeter.... check obvious things first 1st,enough petrol, air filter.e.t.c... hope this is some help.

dave
p.s. cleaning out the carb is very easy, worth doing this every so often anyway, not using fuel treatments, take the carb off and do it...

sometimes when i had my gilera runner the throttle got sticky, what you could do is undo the bar-end one the hight hand side(throttle side) and check the throttle again if its back to normal then put a washer between the end of the throttle grip and bar-end then retighten that will sort it.
if not then pull the rubber grip back(towards the bar-end) a small amount(make sure the grip isnt rubbing on the bar-end) sometimes the grip rubs nearest to the clock plastics and stops the throttle releasing.
failing those steps your throttle cable could be frayed this would cause the throttle not to release.

let me know if you sort it Thumbs Up
