Hi all, I am looking at staying in a Formule 1 Hotel whilst in France. The only thing I am not sure about is:
1. Is there any parking?
2. Is there a shower and toilet in the room?
I can't find out from the web site so any info would be great.
Cheers

Hi

Years since I used them. There was outside parking but nothing bike specific. Showers / loos are shared.

All the best

There's always parking, but some can fill up on the weekends if you arrive very late. Always been a place to squeeze a couple bikes though.

Showers and toilets are communal, couple of each per hallway usually. They are generally fairly clean if you're concerned.

Hiya, just concerned about my missus. She wants private showers and bathroom. I stayed at the equivalent of the Formule 1's in Germany, can't remember the name but they had private shower and toilet. Is there something similar to the Formule 1's with private shower and toilet?

Yeah there are, but they aren't quite as common. The hotel chains tend to be more regional than national, there's a few in the links Sticky thread.

The missus would hate it: shared loos and showers (they get automatically disinfected after use), no air con and mattresses covered in plastic. Not nice when it's boiling hot outside and you're allocated (by a machine) a room on the ground floor, so you can't even open the window. Never again! I'd rather sleep on a park bench.

I wouldn't take one again on the South coast it has to be said, no air-con and one window means it'd be cooler camping.

Hi there. The missus spent ages looking for cheap hotels on the net. Fortunately, we have found a place, two nights in Paris works out at 74 quid. Which I can't grumble at. Smile Thanks for all your help guys.

Glad you're sorted!

Just wanted to say that we used Formule 1 hotels during our trip around Normandy and are huge fans! They are fantastic value for money, very clean and the showers are big enough for two! Razz

Also depending on the hotel, most have secure parking. We managed to park the bike right outside our window in each hotel, and most of the car parks had security gates which could only be operated by customers.
Thumbs Up

Premiere Classe. Thumbs Up Much the same as F1 but with your own toilet/shower. Cheap, as is the continental breakast. Only downside is that they are usually on industrial estates.

Another optio, for future reference, would be Campanile https://www.campanile.fr/?l=en More pricey than Formule 1 but better quality.

check https://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/index.html and you will probably find something in their range.

Etap

I like the formule1 but heat can be a problem. If you want ensuite and a/c (usually) then go for the Etap hotels. They are about 5-10Euros more per night, but you still only pay per room (not person). If price is no object look at the Mercator/Novatel.

In Paris I have used the Tim Hotel (right next to the Louvre) which is about 30GBP per night with a/c and ensuite. Parking is just outside in the street, but it felt safe (lots of other bikes there) and there are things to lock your bike to. It certainly is a convenient location both for the louvre, Notre Damn, and the markets cafe's in the area.

All the best.

When i used to travel with my folks in europe, i had no gripes stayin in an ibis hotel. You can expect the same quality wherever you go and for an air conditioned room, with breakfast, with shower and often in more convenient locations with parking, you can't really complain. Sure it might be slightly more expensive, but after a long ride, you need a decent rest and i've never found any fault with Ibis hotel. I think they're run by the same chain that run etape? - accor hotels?

They're the same chain that run the F1 - Accor. They're nice enough, got put up in one once by a breakdown company. They cost twice as much as an F1 though. For that kind of money personally I'd rather spend it on either a cheap hotel + beers or a more original, independant hotel.
