Bike hiring

Does anyone know if you can hire motorbikes, as me and my mate want to hire a couple and have a bit of fun on them in the summer! as we want a couple of 900s but dont want to keep them!

Got a feeling you can, but dont know where to look! Any ideas?

I rented from these guys before I got my bike: https://www.raceways.net/index2.php. I couldn't fault them.

You'll need to be over 25 to get something serious from them - and they may charge you extra if you're under 30 - depending on the bike. You can get a Fazer 1000 without their "young rider surcharge", but you'll have to pay it if you want an R1 or an R6, for example.

They seem to be. I only rented from them once - I had an XR125 because I was still on my provisional licence at the time, but it was brand new, near as dammit. I wouldn't have lent it to a learner, personally, but they didn't seem to have a problem with it. I bought a bike as soon as I passed my test so I haven't been back, but I probably will in the spring and try out a few bikes that I'm considering buying.

Their shop on Uxbridge Road doesn't look all that special, but their service was great, as was the bike.

They are very nice bikes, as I have a 600 now, I want something with more of a kick. But I would not go as far as the 1000cc bikes yet....Dont trust myself that much!

I know what you mean. Scared myself when I first got my 50bhp ER-5. That fear has gone now so it's probably time to move up a notch. But I reckon 90bhp or thereabouts is probably plenty for now. I'm not going to jump on a Hayabusa just yet.

I've got me an ER-6 (72hp) and I've also 'got used to it'. But rather than venture onto a sports 600, I'm thinking more along the lines of something comfortable for some European touring - as well as commuting and weekend farting-about.

On my potential wishlist are...

VFR800
BMW R1200 GS
CBR 600F

A colleague of mine has a VFR800 - he loves it. He says it's a good compromise between a sports bike and a tourer - nice comfy seating position.

VFR is top of my list.

The only issue is servicing costs. I've heard they're outrageous. And obviously I need to make sure the windblast is reduced to a minimum because I went touring with my bike (which is naked) and I got the biggest headache ever!

I wouldn't susally mind, but I have family in Italy and I wanna go down regularly (at least that's what I tell them - the Alps and Italian lakes are unbeatable biking country!!)

VFR800s are good. They'll powerwheelie pretty damn well. And yeah they're comfy.

A few performance upgrades and you're well away! They'd make a good everyday bike, but would get wasted by an R6 on a trackday.

Only just over 100bhp, but a nice big bag of torque.

I've personally seen 130mph, I'd be surprised if 150mph wasn't on the cards.
