I've been wanting a tattoo for many years now but I've got a stumbling block. Obviously I don't want an 'off the shelf' tattoo that a thousand scum bag pikeys have already. I want something personal and original blah blah.

I have a theme around which to base the tattoo but I'm completely devoid of any artistic talent - a teacher at school told me never to draw a picture ever again! Will the tattooist be able to work with me to make a design? The problem with this is that I'm going to be really picky and I can see the bloke getting annoyed.

Were any of you lot who have one now in a similar position to me before?

Cheers

Well firstly make it easier for us Joe...What are you thinking of be Specific if you can.....

A Tattooist will/can work something out for you but that will reflect on the price...

Yeah the tattooist should work with you to make a design, that is, if they are worth their salt. Some have a small charge for doing so and if he got annoyed theres really nothing he can do as its what he is paid for and you are bringing custom to his shop so why would he turn you away?

If he does, find another tattooist that won't.

This place is 5 minutes from my house

https://www.jonnott.com/index.asp

I'll pop along at some point soon - hopefully after getting my idea a bit more specific and getting together some images etc.

Let us know how it pans out. Smile

Edit; just noticed he says 'Now I deal solely in custom work', you silly boy Joe! Razz

That guys work looks really good Joe. The girl who did my cover up is moving to a new shop and I'm doing the plumbing so I'll be getting some work done as part payment (that'll keep the taxman happy Rolling Eyes Laughing ). I want something to celebrate my little girl being born. I haven't got a clue though....

I want something along the lines of good luck/guardian angel sort of thing but not really the traditional type that you see. I want something maybe very simple and modern but kind of abstract. See why I'm having trouble now Rolling Eyes Laughing

Try having a look at some of the Manga stuff Joe, some of that stuff looks fantastic and not at all cartoonish.....

Failing that type variations of what you're after into Google and you'll find something along the lines of what you want.....

I’m after a mix of things, and I want it perfect but it’s proving difficult.
I want a 50’s still curvy pinup, straddled over a bike wheel, but then how will you know it’s a bike wheel?
I think the pinups are a timeless iconic image but if I ruin it with the bike related image, it will look silly in a few years.
A silhouette of it might be a better option, but then I’d like the features of the lady to look good.
The bike would be difficult, as someone said on here, which one do you model it on, it might loo pants later.

So many things to consider… Rolling Eyes

I know it's completely different from what you're after, but the description reminded me of this:

there are some really good places in brighton, probabaly a few forums on the subject might be able to recommend a good place there.

My brother went to Temple Tattoo in Brighton to get a tattoo on most of his leg in a custom design.

The artist draw lines roughly in yellow, then again in green, then again in blue (they might be slightly different colour but you get the idea). Took hours but it meant that it was just how my brother wanted.

If they get annoyed then they arnt a tattoo artist, its on you for the rest of your life so its worth being very picky IMO Thumbs Up

Cut the tail off cut the Horns off and wipe it's arse..... Laughing

Take it to a Tattooist ask them to change the hair and features above if you're not confident in doing it yourself Killa.....

Or find a similar sized face you like from Google Images, print it trace it and whack it on.....

If/when I find some more I'll post them up for you mate NP..... Thumbs Up

I was about to suggest something like the pic you'd posted Joe.

A sort of mix of a Ninja with angel wings, if that makes any sense.

Have the figure in dark/black colours with the sword well lit up as well as the wings. And the face masked but with eyes glowing red

Get the bike incorporated theme in there but 90% of people wouldn't even know!

Fuck, i really wish i could draw so i could knock something up for you.

Hope this helps a bit mate Thumbs Up

Well I'm going to get the Azrael thing done Thumbs Up I've emailed the bloke about getting an appointment. I showed a mate the design and his first words are "You'll regret that" Confused Oh well, I don't think I will as tattoos are a personal thing plus it will be somewhere covered by clothes on my body.
