Hi all. Im rather miffed....

Was changing my oil filter on my bandit 400 and i overtightened one of the bolts holding on the cover which caused it to snap.

I have no idea how im gonna fix it. Any ideas?

Cheers! Thumbs Up

The cover to the oil filter?

If so,

No big deal, dont panic.

Take the cover off and see how much bolt you have remaining.

If there's an ample amount thread 2 nuts onto the bolt, and tighten them together.

Unscrew the remainder of the stud with the nut you threaded on first (the bottom one)

Order a new stud, then just screw that into the engine block and replace filter cover as normal.

The studs are removable?

I thought they were welded to engine somehow?

If your right, where could i get hold of them? keep in mind my bike is an import.

Yeah they're removable, they tiny little studs that screw into the engine casing.

As I said, thread 2 nuts on them and use the bottom nut to turn it out.

I got my replacement ones from sparesdirect, you might be luck and it might be the same as a GS500E stud as the filter arrangement sounds similar.
