My battery in the ZXR was flat so many times it was just a joke.
Once 'charged' does it hold its charge for any length of time?
Even with a new battery, I still had problems, this being due to knackered altenator
A short somewhere may also cause a battery to discharge (so I'm led to believe).
The obvious thing would be to get a volt / multimeter and get some figures to work with. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

I was looking at buying a mille a few years back and did a bit of research, cant remember now what the problem was but it was electrical and one of the symptoms was the speedo kept reverting back to kph from mph.
Get yourself a multi meter and check the voltage going into the battery it should be around 14 volts any less than that could mean alternator failed/failing.
Whats the electrolyte levels on the battery like have you checked to see if the levels are low? ____________________ We're all just born to die. So lets have some fun

does it just suddenly stop turning over or does it start turning over slower and slower
What about the electrolyte level ____________________ We're all just born to die. So lets have some fun

if its not slowing down dramatically then unlikely its the battery. sounds like theres a bad connection somewhere. clean up all the connections start button, kill switch, live & earth to the battery, connections to the starter solenoid and starter motor, but i'd have a look at the contacts on the start button 1st. clean them with some sand paper then smear a bit of vaseline on them to keep them clean ____________________ We're all just born to die. get a volt meter. and check the charge rate by conecting it to the battory and running the bike. make sure you get 13.5 or above..
if you dont you eath have a altinator or regulator problem.
now find the regulator, and connect the volt metor to the inside of the conection and see if you get a big voltage reading. if you do then the altinator is fine but the reguator is fooked. a regulator is cheaper so it worst doing the test.
