Checked throttle cable isn't snagged either at handlebar end or at top of carb? My Mito used to snag on the ignition barrel if I did full left lock then turned right... and during this process it'd pull the end of the shielding out of the carb's cable guide, causing the shielding to snag on the cable guide effectively holding the throttle wide open.

yeah what i did earlier to try and terminate the problem was i undone the bolts on the top of the carb and took the little barrel with the throttle pin out and then tried to start it again to see if it was that making it rev. i also tried this with the choke cable but it didnt make any difference it still reved right up to about ten k

hey guys i think ive pretty much tried everything to get this damn thing going but im not giving up. ive spent a week trying to get it to start. ive booked it on wednesday but i really want it to run so that i can just be motd and i dont have to pay the labour charge. if the ptrol goes in to the air intake part of the carb it will start and the same if it goes into the spark plug hole. does this make it a carb issue ? it also revs at 10k then cuts out when the petrol ive put in runs out.

I'm certain that the first thing you checked was that petrol was getting into the carb from the tank.

And after that, that the petrol was getting out of the carb and into the cylinder.

Could that be because it's running shockingly lean until the petrol you poured in has run out????

Have you a Foam air pod, or any kind of Air Pod on instead of the normal box?

I've had to take mine off due to it causing it to die and not idle as the air was too cold and freezing the carb ...

So with the box now getting air from close to the exhaust again its a bit warmer and it has a while to warm up in the bnox a little and is now running fine.

Just a thought ...

Luke.

you shouldnt tighten the idle screw and undo it 2 and a half turns, the more you tighten it the higher the idle so if you did this you should undo it a couple more turns and try it from there.
