cagiva supercity 125cc 1992
--------------------------------------
hi,
when i was on my way home from boxhill yesterday, doing about 60mph in 4th/5th (cant remember)
accelerating through the rev range in what ever gear it was the bike felt sluggish was slow to get throught the rev range and didnt sound as deep(induction noise) as it usually does, it done this in every gear when accelerating for a few miles and then all of a sudden traveling through the rev rang and gears the induction noise got louder(as usual) like flicking a switch and the power was back too!
what i though it was, was the power valve suddenly opening but the valve was fully operational and still is.
anyone else have any ideas what caused this, clutch slip, dirty carb, engine too hot??
cheers for your advice ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |

my mate has a highly tuned scooter and says it runs better on BP ulitmate than standard petrol
could that be because his compression is a lot higher than standard? i herd than when fitting a high compression head you need to run the engine on that stuff.
i was thinking on trying it in my bike but its a lot more expensive than normal petrol, and could possibly be a waste of money.
whats your input to trying it??
also whats the pros and cons??
cheers,

As BigChris said the higher-octane fuel provides better resistance to detonation.
He might well have found his bike runs better on that fuel than the previous but he might have found equally good results switching to another premium-grade fuel. The octane-rating wouldn't affect the power delivery. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

can anyone reccomend any adjustments to get smoother running and better throttle responses E.G anything that can be adjusted/set diffrently to standard that can be done at home and have a benefit.
** sounds like a divy question, as i cant really explain what i mean ** ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |

yer the cables fine, when i pull back the throttle and look up the carb mouth the slide opens fully, and the throttle itself is very free moving and snaps back to closed when released.
what i ment was how to get better, smoother engine running and a little bit more umph, a bit more get up and go kind of thing ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |
