Ok, time to put your cards on the table.

I know that (traditionally) twins are better for low-end grunt, and fours are peaky screamers, but which one do you PERSONALLY prefer?

p.s. If there are any Triumph people who think that 3 cylinders are best or a good compromise, this is not the aim of this thread.

If you HAD to choose one......

Inline four, as who the hell wants a bike that runs out of guts just as it gets exciting... sort of like a premature ejaculator Confused

I don't like the scream or high revs of an IL4. So vtwin for me. But I am one of the few that have actually tried both engine configurations in a few different sizes for some time to base my opinion on. Thumbs Up

There is a time and a place for an IL4 for me and 99% of the time, I don't ride like that.

The sv650 engine is perfect for me.

I suppose those who enjoy good solid dependable performance right through the rev range, rather than concentrated in a relatively narrow powerband at the top of the rev range? Perhaps? Smile

Question Thumbs Up

I have both twins and fours, and I like them all for different reasons.. the FJR is smooth as silk, but has a very flat torque curve, so you get low-down power just as you do on a twin.. the Firestorm, on the otherhand, has it's peak power near it's redline, so you can still thrash the proverbials off it..

just depends how I feel really..

I prefer inline 4's.

I've ridden a firestorm, TL-S and an SV605, I really don't get along with any of them. I had a Comet 125 but that doesn't really count.

Seeing as I've mainly had inline 4's, I guess I'm just used to them and the way you ride them.

I learned on an IL4 and own a parallel 2. I preferred the former. Will probably swap back to an IL4 for my next bike.

Twins have no rhythm, they sound like cars. IL4 all the way. At least when you get a race can on a IL4 you can hear the diffrence. Very Happy

A friend of mine has a 650cc single. She calls it "the tractor" because it sounds and feels like one.

I've only ever had twins, but i think it is inevitable that at some point I will have an il4 or a v4, so ask again later...

No doubt someone will Wink
