The past few times I have been to the gym I have been getting knee pain
The pain isn't 'inside' the front of the knee, it is sort of at the top of the knee... sort of where you muscle joins your knee (if you get what I mean)

Whilst exercising I don't have any problems, I first notice it after I have finished
I can walk normally etc.. it just hurts in that region when I am climbing stairs, getting up from sitting down

It lasts about 1-2 days, and then goes completely

Anyone offer any advice? I hope I haven't screwed my knees up. I exercise properly, don't lock my knees etc...
I am hoping it is just muscley related, as the pain does go, etc...

I would be gutted if I had to stop exercising

Thanks!

JO xx

Too much of the high impact type exercising.

Just relax and be gentle next time you go pounding the treadmill.

Is it dangerous though?
So I should cut the running out
Are X Trainers okay? And speedwalking?

Thanks

Bilateral amputation in the longterm Rolling Eyes

No, just your body telling you to chill out and relax Wink High impact is what it is, it puts a lot of stress and strain on the joints causing pain if not used to it.

Walking and X trainers are better, lower impact Thumbs Up

Been told its due to shoe type, and need proper running shoes.

True or not, i dont know.

Thumbs Up

Find it quite hard on the feet in regular trainers, but in running shoes like Nike with the Air Max or 'springs', then its much more comfortable.

This is simply a case of 'Exercising is bad for you' - somthing I have always believed in!
Seriously though, what Whosthedaddy said is spot on, reduce or cut out completely the runnig and use a crosstrainer if it's available or even a cycle.

Thanks Thumbs Up
I already use the cross trainer for 10-15 minutes. And cycle for about the same

I will cut out the running, and speedwalk uphill and up the trainer and cycling time I think
