I was trying to remove the end can of my RVF today (just for, er, research purposes, honest!), but there were two b@stard "torx" bolts that seem to be jammed to solid...

...I have tried copious amounts of WD40 but to no avail...is there any other stuff that I can try?

Cheers,

Tin

Hi

I hate torx bolt, but then that is probably because the only 2 vehicles I have needed them for I didnt like

Heat will help, but the WD40 might take some time to have full effect. Let it soak in, maybe spray a bit more on each day, and then have another go. Also, put the torx bits in place and tap them with a hammer, which will help to break the seal

All the best

Keith

I find that gently tapping a stuck bolt for a while with a spanner or something can loosen it up a bit

try an impact driver, back in the days when I had a clapped out Kawasaki KC100 it was invaluable. 12 years ago it cost me 15 quid, no idea what it would cost now.

If u still cant shift them, try undoing them while the exhaust is still hot a fter a good run. If u still have no luck, invest in a ratchet type kit, where the torx 'bits' are hexagonal (allenkey) ended, or ever available as ratchet socket ended, then u can get a bit more leverage on the buggers. My zorst had some threadlocker on the bolts, and they took some doing, but i did it. If all else fails, dont bother, and leave it.

Yeah, well...I thought that they'd be more knowledgeable than this lot...JUST KIDDING!...nah, I just thought that I'd try to mingle with some more dedicated V4 owners...

...as for the name...well...someone else had taken "tin", and I didn't like the sound of "tin367"...it's just not quite the same...

Anyways, thanks for the responses guys...I've decided to take Keith's advice for the time being, just spraying a bit 'o WD40 on each day...and then I'll try using some heat...but: what should I actually heat up?...the bolts themselves?...

I've got to take the bike back to the dealer soon anyway (to get, amongst other things, Datatag installed...), so they should be able to get the damn things off, right?

Cheers,

Tin
