Saturday I got somebody to overhaul me front brake after it seized badly causing incredibly hot discs ,

Saturday was ok , Sunday was ok , today it rained pushing the bike into the carport I hear a dreaded
scraping noise ,

brake still works fine ,

surely the brakes can't be binding so soon? , or will a spin out clear the crap from the brake?

Last time I did a caliper overhaul it lasted 8 months before any seizing happened,

or am I just being paranoid? ,

Any thoughts

ta

Scraping noise on the brakes is quite normal if the bike is kept outside in damp weather. So long as the wheel doesn't bind after a short ride then don't worry.

I rebuilt my entire front brake, which included the two-pot caliper. Nightmare, because the lower piston consumed two sets of seals before staying dry. Anyway, despite all the attention, I find that my new brake still scrapes occasionally when freewheeling. If I give it a little dab, then the pads retract enough to shut it up. Hopefully it is just a matter of tight seals, and will ease up. Looks like we're in this together..

Check the master cylinder, the fluid needs to return to the resevouir, if there is a blockage on the return orifice it will increase the pressure and keep the brakes applied.
What you are looking for are 2 holes in the bottom of the master cylinder, the smaller one (about 1 to 2 mm) in the base of the resevouir is the return, this can get blocked.
Blow it out once you have stripped the master cylinder.

Not the only one then who is having back brake troubles. Had it all cleaned and greased up last month because the caliper was just sticking on after using the back brake. Go and get it sorted properly tommorow.
