Hi folks. I've just an '04 Gilera Stalker, and very happy I am with it too! Anyway, I've just noticed the front wheel seems to be a bit off centre. I'm not mechanically minded but am willing to have a go at most things. I would appreciate if anyone could give me some idiot proof advice how to go about fixing this!
Many thanks in advance,
Cameron.

It's a bit difficult to see if its out of line, as the wheel is not straight ahead in the pics. The only way to really tell is to use a straight edge against both sides of the back wheel, to see the gaps at the front.
Another (less reliable) way is to get up a bit of speed on a level surface (roads tend to be cambered) and let go of the bars. If it veers one way, its out of line.
Basically there is no adjustment. If it's out of line, its probably been crashed or at least kerbed. The only way to cure it is to straighten the frame, which is not easy.

Hi, in the pics' the handlebars are dead straight. The deviation is the amount it is off centre. The main thing I'm worried about is if it's dangerous. Particularly if it is a case of something is lose and at some point I'll turn the handlebars and the wheel won't correspond!

Ah, right, gotcha!
Ok, most 'peds only have the bars connected to the forks by a clamp bolt that tightens up the tube on the bottom of the bars. If this is loose (god forbid) or more likely has had a whack, it easily goes out of line. It can't go out of line much more than it has because the bolt sits in a groove in the shaft, and it can't come off in your hands for the same reason.
Remove the front fairing and you will see the clamp. Slacken the bolt, hold the wheel with your knees (or a mates knees) and turn the bars til they line up. Then retighten the bolt and refit the fairing. Simple (but the fairing could take you an hour! Lol)

Hi, thanks for the replies. It's def' not an illusion mate. When the back of the plastic fairing is flush, the wheel is off as per the pictures. You have to turn the handlebars to get it true.

I removed the top fairing and found a long bolt that ran down the fork tube. I removed it but couldn't budge the wheel an inch (and I'm no weekling!). I'll bugger about with it late. Wink
