 |
|
Forgive the length of this post...
Well my best mate broke up with his v long term gf a few weeks back, hes been feeling shit but i didnt realise quite how bad as he was good at covering things up! Last night i realised he was thinking of doing stupid things and he tried to commit sucide (im on the phone during this) Luckily he failed as hes a shit boy scout and cant tie knotts, however he was pissed alone and about to try again...
I make sure hes in contact, and tell him not to move i will be there in 10mins. I run out and jump on my bike (which is SO not road legal- bald tyres, no oil in the front forks, the front heads leaking oil everywhere). The second im out the drive the red light comes on, i ignore it and pray to myself it will be ok, ride like ive never ridden before in my life, on the redline everywhere, ran several red lights and just as i enter town this plod in a yellow jacket sees me caining it down the highstreet and steps into the road with his hand up wanting me to stop! I fly straight past him and round the roundabout! About half a mile from his house the bike starts to stutter and i have to work the clutch!
Luckily i get there in time to find a noose from the beam, him with a VERY purple bruise, not knowing what the fucks going on in the process of trying again!
So now im left with a REALLY fucked bike, a likelly letter from the police bollocking me and a mate who ive got to sort out! Tag that onto a very ill mother and general work stress.....
FUCKING HELL LIVES SHIT!
I wasnt sure weather to post about this but feel just typing this will prolly help somewhat, wasnt sure wheather to put it in auntie bcf, mods plz move it if need be! Thanks ____________________ Squiffy_The_Wombat

If nothing else, you are a true friend, not many people would put themselves through that sort of thing.
seriously brave stuff to run reds, on a bike thats out of oil, and then run by the police, you might be lucky he might not have your license. ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R. Present: 97 ER-5.

First off, I hope your friend is feeling better now.
Secondly, you are a true friend to him, and the world could do with more people like you! As ncrn said, not a lot of people would have done what you did, running the personal risk of riding a knackered bike as well as running the police.
Hope things work out for the better for you and your friend,
All the best,

Sounds like very testing times for you and your friend. You did well to put him before the many other considerations your health, license etc - truly selfless acts that I'm sure won't go unrewarded in some way
Be a good mate to him once again and press him into getting some proper psychiatric help. It doesn't mean he's nuts he's just having a hard time coping with the hand he's been dealt. Proper professional treatment can make a difference to the rest of his life. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

You can not take him to the Samaritans as they only exist on the other end of the phone. 08457 90 90 90 or
https://www.samaritans.org.uk/
Try them, they may be able to help you help him ____________________ Bikers make great organ donors, get 115 on your licence today. |

Yeah, the samaritans would be the best people. If he doesn't want to talk to them directly you could explain the situation and they can give you some pointers as to how to deal with the situation.
If he does decide to talk to them, sit with him and just be a shoulder if he needs it.
Pour/Lock away all alcohol, it really isn't the answer to his situation. If you want any help, I did a two yr psych course, so i might be some help.

The samaritans do help a lot, but they won't give you the answers, all they'll do is get you to talk and try to find your own conclusions, I think they'd be a help for your friend, being able to talk to someone you can't see and will never meet again helps a lot in many situations, this one especially. ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R. Right...
So your selfish mate is trying to kill himself, just for effect he decides to phone you whilst he does it, nice of him.
Then to top it off you think he deserves saving and think it's ok to put other peoples lives at risk by running red lights on your bike that not only isn't road legal but not even road worthy.
Sounds justifiable that you should put innocent peoples lives at risk to save a selfish git... |

Fair play Squiffy - that was really selfless of you - as the others have said - you're a great friend! I really hope things work out well for both you and your friend. And The Samaritans are a great bunch - really helpful in a completely non-judgemental way. ____________________

Well, to be honest SCREW YOU! Without going into his life story, i can assure you this was no emo-style cry for help, selfish maybe but if your rock bottom things change!
I didnt put anyones life at risk other than my own, this wasnt rush hour and i would do it again in a heart beat! ____________________ Squiffy_The_Wombat

Shaun, that's a bit harsh is it not? I'd like to think that if I was in difficulty that a friend would be willing to help me out like that! ____________________

To be honest, thats exactly what I thought as I read his post, all the people above giving thumbs up etc but what if Squiffy had ran over your son/daughter/mother whilst riding his illegal motorcycle dangerously? Would he still be the hero? He should have called the police, not endangered other innocent people. |
