 |
|
Hey all,
Done my CBT this very afternoon, felt pretty confident with everything apart from slow movement with the clutch i felt it was easier just using throttle control, felt confident on the u-turns it was all going well
then...
we were practicing minor to major road turnings and i was in first and noticed all through the exercise the revs were at the end of the counter sooo me thinking far too much decided to stick it into second to ease the amount of throttle needed (and stop knackering the bikes engine by being at top of first all day) well i was a still a little panicky on the throttle so i completed a few turns in second then took a right...
i was just coming out of the bend when on twist of the throttle i discovered i was actually in third and went hurtling round the corner doing (for my first ride on a bike) an excessive speed of 20mph then being the n00b i am panicked and yank the front brake lever, and you all know what happens then, the bike went from underneath me!
Im fine just a little dented in the pride section and my left calf but i still want a bike for sure!
Hope you enjoyed it! ____________________ 08/11/2007 A2 Passed.

You better have booked another one there an then though!
Nah i understand it might have you rattled, but gotta get back on the horse and all that! Believe me once you get out on the road even if you do crash you first and only thought will be 'how long will it take to fix my bike?'
Its a learning experiance, better in a car park with instructors about than on the road. Hoping you'll be retaking soon! ____________________ Previous - Gilera DNA50 / XVS125 Dragstar/Honda CBR 600F/GSF 650 Bandit

Yeah i know the feeling, dropped the CG125 on my CBT (i was pretty terrible actually). Doing the same manoeuver as you but i let the clutch out too fast and took off towards the tyre wall, so i grabbed a handful of front brake and ended up underneath the bike with a bruised knee
I would recommend getting straight back in for your CBT and don't worry about it. |

Here's another CBT classic, when I did it the day started off well by me being slightly late, and another chap forgot his licence (there were 3 of us). One of them only scraped through reading a number plate. The guy without his licence has his family searching at home but after getting on for an hour gave up so he left.. then there were two.
Well the chap I was with also had a licence problem, his provisionary licence had expired or something, so he was stuck on a restricted 50cc. When it came to our two hour road ride, there was our instructor on a Super Blackbird, me on a CG500, and him on a scooter!!!! It was a joke, fair enough we had to stick to speed limits but even in 30's it took a day to get there, and as for nationals
Still, got there in the end though, just very slowly. ____________________ Current: '07 Suzuki SV1000 & '07 Honda SH300i (again).

Did they do the first stuff in a carpark near B&Q (and the new honda place)?
Think it was style rider I saw there when I was going past the other day.
Lightening often move to the Lovelock road for manoeuvres, often wondered what they're saying to their students about our wheelies etc . |

Had a kind of a same experience on my cbt, i came of the bike when i was going down the hill, it was pissing down and road was wet, some f*cking how i managed to go down the gear when i was in 3rd with the revs near the red... Well back wheel locked up, then i wondered why is my bike decelerating sooooo hard and then tire slided and i was on the floor, the funniest part is that the biggest damage i have done was a couple of scratches on my mobile phone!!! That bike is a tank, you really have to try to damage it I stood up, picked up the bike and off we go again... My instructor was a good guy and first thing that he said 'Because you came off the bike doesn't means you failed' So i was so happy that i decided to ride to the full back to CBT center |

When doing my 1-to-1 DA on a 500cc the instructor and I stopped at a station to fill up, went to push the bike forward to park so that the cars behind could use the pump, and I made the mistake of being on the outside of ths turning circle (standing not sitting). The heavy bike started to go, I wasn't able to hold it, and I dropped it in front of about 20 people. Broke a foot peg |

I can remember one lad on my cbt, it was his first time on a scooter and as he went to brake he kept his throttle on and cuz his bike wasnt stopping he panicked and put more throtle on and more brake in the end he ended up in a hedge. |
