Hi Guys

Please somebody help!
Fitted 2007 Hotgrips to my Suzuki GSX600FY they are the 2007 model with 4 leds to select power level
Fairly straightforward to fit but slow due to the fairing

Took live feed from rear brake light switch i.e. no power flowing when ignition switched off.

Grips worked fine on testing but if I turn on the lights or flash the PASS button the grips switch off, if I turn bike off and restart it grips turn on and work

The grips dont switch off if I push the horn, use indicaters or apply front or rear brakes

My thoughts are
1. a faulty grip temp controller
2. battery on bike not 100%
but Im only guessing

Any help would be great

sounds like the head light is sapping all the power for the lights and turning the grips off ie not enough power to them while the head light is on Confused

check all your wiring to make sure all connections are good

also check the earths

im also only guessing

negative direct to battery negative, live direct to brake light switch I had no other connections to make its the rest are all push in connectors.

The bikes wiring loom is not designed to take 3+ Amps. Especially the brake light switch wires which are skinny little things!! You need to take the power direct from the battery. To enable the grips to be turned off with the ignition you need to use a relay. The rear brake live (which is always on even if the brake light is not) is used as the signal wire that opens the relay allowing the battery circuit to open. When the ignition is turned off, the switch wire ceases to be live and the relay cuts the power from the battery.

This wiring diagram should help. You can get a suitable 12volt automotive relay from halfords for around £5. The fuse must go between the relay and the battery. Ideally as close to the battery as possible.
