Afaik lower unsprung weight? Given the choice i'd stick with conventional forks simply because they can have gaiters..

In the real world not much difference..

Inverted forks are difficult to fit up your bumhole as the top half of the forks are wider in diamter and are usually gold in colour and often ribbed. It's a girthy, ribbed piece of tubing and you may want to call it Bubbah!

RWU forks are a smooth chromed surface and can slide up and down your bumhole easier. All you need to do is just remove the yokes in either case. You can do without the lube cos of the frictionless surface. And it's rate cold!

It's got something to do with the stanchions carrying a lighter mass blah de blah and making it easier to turn. I personally think it has more relevance to how easy it is to slide the forks up and down your bumhole Razz

Hi

USD forks are stiffer, and when compressed the point where there is the greatest stress (just under the bottom yoke) has the strength of both the inner and the outer.

There are also claims that an USD fork has less unsprung weight, but not so sure on that.

All the best

Keith

with working suspension, the wheel and the bottom half of the suspension go up and down a lot in time with the bumps in the road.

if the wheel and the bottom half of the suspension (the bit that moves) are light, its easier for the suspension to hold the wheel to the road and insulate the bike from the bumps, giving better road holding

this is the unsprung weight thing people are referring to, for those that arent up on the lingo

You can still get Up Side Down suspension that is worse than right way up suspension, but thats down to the components, as the USD configuration is inheritantly better

also as the join is lower, down the forks may be less likely to flex, which may or may not be significant

How can USD forks have lower unsprung weight when the steel fork tube is unsprung yet it is sprung on conventional forks.

Conventional forks are still highly capable BTW they only switched the GSXR600 to USD in 2003/4.

When you bust the fork seals on RWUF , you go ohhhh shit, but can see it happen and bag them up , most of the time since even with faired bikes you can see down the yokes.

when you bust fork seals on USD forks you can't see it and attempt to brake going hot into a corner and think SHIIITITTTT,

which means that USD need more preventitive maintenance.
