AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
My mate came round today and removed all the farings on my new Honda NSR 125 ('03 plate). He put new front brakes on, new spark plug, high temp' paint on the exhaust and cleaned the shit out of it!
However, as you can tell from the title, the rear brake caliper screw is seriously, stuck. It just won't budge. It's been in WD40 all bloody day but still no joy & the head is now starting to go.
He's leaving it over night to come back & try tomorrow.
If it's still buggered, any suggestions? I'm going to be totally sick if I have to buy a new caliper...I want to get out on my new bike!
Any suggestions would be braw |

Theres a few threads about stuck screws/bolts going about
Depends what resources you've got at hand really, try tightening it up a tiny bit then loosen it to where it was, increasing how much you undo it each time for starters but I guess you might have tried this already.
If the WD40 doesn't work try penetrating oil which is usually a bit thinner for another night.
If you've got a copper hammer or copper bar, as long as it doesn't damage anything I'm not sure it matters as long as its less dense than the screw/caliper, try hitting the screw along its length just to shock it then go back to tightening and loosening if it'll budge.
If you've got a heat source try warming it up so it expands and grips the threads.
That screws looking a bit rusty tho so might be a bit of work, make sure when it goes back in, if you're not replacing it, put a bit of oil on the tip so you won't have the same problem next time!
Good luck getting it off, let us know how you get on |
