Hallooo, sorry I missed you McGee but that zinger chicken fillet burger combo was too good to pass up.

I did a trackday. I wrote a lot of not very helpful stuff about it here.

Don't brick it, trackdays are awesome, and very addictive. Just hold your line, or people WILL push past you and can compromise your safety. Don't worry about where other people are in relation to you, just concentrate on yourself, and your progress around the track.

That's what I was told anyway.

Take some tape to cover up smashable bits, lots of water, erm some little snack bars or something... I survived on water and tape. Oh and whatever correct gear they ask you to wear and the money.

Erm, yeah that's about it from me, I'll leave it to people who know what they're on about to help you out more. Just yeah, don't worry about it at all, there really is nothing to worry about. Track days are there for people to have fun not poop their pants over. Thumbs Up

Good luck! Mr. Green

Oh and cokker, if you read this, yes, Taupo soon!

If you think about dropping the bike you will.

Just go out there, have fun and push your limits, but just make sure you don't push them too far Thumbs Up

Take tools, wd40, chain lube, gloves, all your leather and helmet etc, any bike spares you have incase you do bin it (levers esp) cable ties and tape Wink

The only thing you need to remember is, its not a race.

Get out there and take the first 3-4 laps easy, give yourself plenty of braking distance etc..

Then you start to realise you can really go for it, nothing to ride into, no cars to look out for, nothing coming the other way at all.

There WILL be people there faster than you (alot faster), DO NOT try and keep up with them or you will bin it.

I'm doing my first of the year in a couple of weeks and I cant fecking wait. Must the the wheels back on the bike!!! Laughing

What bike are you going to do it on if you're selling the gixxer?

And yes, take it at your own pace. Get faster slowly as they say. If you go out like a scalded cat chasing someone who knows what they're doing you'll be taking a lie down in the kitty litter before you can say 'braking marker'.

Thanks for the replies people, really looking forward to it. Already got me some leathers on order.

Undecided on the bike yet Gaz.

With my current funds I'm thinking buying two older blades. 929 or 954 etc. Local bike breakers has a blade 1999 all intact with a load of spares including 2 cans for 2500.

Either that or another 750/600 gix.
