Honda cb350sg idle problem

After putting the choke on a few days ago it seems to have become permanently stuck on. My bike is now idling at around 3000rpm (should be 1200 or so.) I've checked the idle adjustment screw and that's fine so I'm assuming it's definitely the choke. I've taken the petrol tank off and tried pulling at the choke cable manually and it doesn't seem to be making any difference. Anyone got any ideas?

Also, does anyone know where I may be able to buy a new choke cable for a cb350sg, I've tried a few sites (like David Silver Spares) and had no luck yet...

I had one a long time ago and I can't remember the carbs.
I would oil the cables and check the springs at the plungers in the carbs.
I am guessing but the cables are likely to go into the carbs trough a
black plastic bit that you can unscrew then pull the choke on and off and
see if the plungers move.If not oil the cable and check the springs and
try it again before putting them back in.

As I recall, CB carbs have a butterfly-valve choke. I also seem to recall the butterfly has a hinged flap on it , held in place with a little spring.

Might be worth checking the choke mechanism is working properly and that one of the springs hasn't gone 'ping'. You could probably do this with minimum interference by cunning use of a small mirror and a torch in the airbox with the air filter removed. Otherwise, removing the airbox rubbers will give you a clear view of the choke mechanism (and a headache putting them back on).

Is the choke control one of those generic honda pull cables with a black knob on the end and no adjuster? You could try a superdream one and see if it fits. Otherwise you might be looking at soldering up a new one.

If it is butterfly then you should be able to move the part that connects
the two chokes.Move up or down to find out where on and off is.Then
leave it off.
