I'd prefer it if the tube was solid and about the thickness of a pencil to be honest. I'm not great welding so thing i'd be able to weld it better that if the tube was hollow.

Good idea though, i must have something lying around that i could cut up...

You want a piece of bar stock then not a tube.

Bolt as suggested.

Tecknikally speaking. If you are welding to the radiator a braze would be better and if welding to the frame be carefull you do not warp or de-stress the area welded. Frames are assembled in jigs to prevent twisting.

Arc or Gas?

I'm not doing anything too drastic, i'm making a u shaped clip to hold the bottom of the radiator and planning on welding a bar to that, once that's welded together i'm going to fabricate a metal plate that will bolt onto an existing bracket on the engine, normally there is a belly pan in its place but that won't be there.

Only internet one I know with a wide range of stock is https://www.metalsdirectuk.com/

Not used them myself but they look good on the face of things, I plan on using them for a possible future project so lemme know how they turn out if you use them Thumbs Up

Failing that have you tried ebay? You'd be suprised the stuff you can find, I found all sorts of ally round bar etc on there.

Alloy is such a bitch and difficult to do unless tig or mig.
Expensive.
Gas or arc is easier to find.
Unless the frame is alloy Doh!

I was looking for some metal for playing/stuff in my van.
Found there's a metal yard just up the road - they have a cheap section for off cuts and a 'free bucket' for little bits, with plenty of useful stuff in.
