flat tyre

this morning i noticed my tyre was nearly flat so i pumped it up, the valve was leaking air so i tightened the valve put a bit of spit on it no bubbles tyre pressure ok so jobs a good un or so i thought.
came out of work and the tyre was almost flat again so pumped it up again and rode the ten minute journey home checked the pressure when i got home and it was almost flat again.
Ive changed the inner bit that screws into the valve and noticed that when i was putting the pump onto the valve where the valve moves slightly the hiss of the escaping air was getting louder and quieter, ive hqad to screw the inner bit of the valve right in to try and stop the leak but now i cant get a reading on my guage.
at a guess id say the innertube is buggered where its joined to the valve.
ive got the wheel off and am taking it to the bike shop tommorow
any ideas if it the valve, innertube or both?

If it has an innertube then the valve will be attached to it otherwise it will never hold air.

My guess is the bike shop will just change the innertube and all should be ok.

spot on, thats what the bike shop said they would do its cheaper to fit a new inner tube than patch the old one, should be fun refitting everything
