Hi,

I've noticed my back break has been squeaking, I know it isn't the pads because I've already changed them. (Not especially, they were wearing thin).

What else would cause the breaks to squeak?

Thanks

Silva

id suggest i gave them a good clean, use copper grease on the back of the pads and make sure that and shims are fitted if they are meant to be there.

Contaminated disk.

Crap got into the old pads and onto the disk, then while you fit the new pads the crap on the disk rubs off onto the pads and makes the squeak again, it's happened to me before.

Best thing to do it get used to it, or sand your pads and attack your disk with brake cleaner/diesel/meths/ petrol so get the contamination off it.

I've had it happen to me and was told to file a chamfer on the pads, something to do with rough edges on the disc.

Never tried it in the end just delt with the noise, however I did try cleaning it a lot and it was only a temporary solution to the problem.

Prehaps someone else could shed some light as to if this works?

a chamfer on the pads works well, as said place a good amount of copper grease on the back of the pads and give the disk a real good clean, that should get you sorted Thumbs Up
