I've done it, put the bike up on E-bay yesterday. As soon as the bike goes i shall be selling all my gear, leathers, lid, gloves etc.

I've had 8 good years of fun and some amazing trips abroad, days out etc. I've met some brilliant folk and had some cracking laughs but enough is enough.

Take care out there guys 'N' gals. Sad

i find it hard to imagine why someone who has had a bike wdnt want one in their life anymore.

There must be some reason that we would all like to hear about.

I've seen the stats, i've had a licence for 8 years, done over 60,000 miles and no accidents. The law of averages is stacking up against me and i've been very fortunate in that i've been lucky on many occasions of bad judgement and when i've run out of tallent whilst on a charge.
Riding something like the Hayabusa makes me go a little maverick from time to time and i onlt ride for the adrenlin rush, nothing else.

So when you put it all together i am statistically on a knife edge and i feel that if/when i do come off its not going to be 30mph.
I have too many plans for the future to be in a wheel chair or dead, I enjoyed my playtime immensely but all good things must come to an end.
I always wanted a GSX1300R since the press launch and i saved up and bought one. I want to quit whilst i have the choice to, not when i'm forced to. I'm concentrating on my 4x4 hobby which I'm actually quite good at Embarassed

I have set a start bid on the bike at £6200 but i'm really hoping for £6500, anything over that will be donated to Derbyshire Air Ambulance.
Stay safe folks.

And when you get older still, you come back to something you really love Very Happy

If you lived you life by statistics then you would never do anything, as we all know they can be made to prove anything you want.
But fair do's you have made you mind up and that a real nice offer to the air ambulance.
As to 4x4 good luck and stay safe, i guess statistics will prove its just as dangerous as biking... Confused

Why give up totally? Why not get yourself a wee run-about say?

At least that way the manic moments will be fewer and far between?

I have a friend that has the same dilemma, has new family and drives on the edge. He too I think is callin it a day, at least for a while.

Seriously think you're making a mistake there matey, but it's your choice. Throw me a PM if you're ever competing around Brum/Midlands, I've always enjoyed laughing at competitors late in the day when the water feature has gotten a little more depth than it started out with Laughing

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

well johnny, first I can say I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet you before giving bikes up. Thumbs Up
noticed you edging toward this in the THCi nathan thread Karma

Secondly I take my hat off regarding the donation. Cool

and finally I hope you at least still hang around on here and maybe attend the odd meet even in a car/4x4.

I know what you mean about stats and tbh I think that's some of the fun we have, beating them (or trying to-call me naive/immature if you like) I only hope I have the sense to say enough is enough and gave up the game while ahead when the time comes.

P.S, do you think you'll get a 'weekend trophy', or any other bike in the future?
