Hello, i have just bought my son a Derbi 50 supermoto and when he stalled at the lights he kicked it and pulled off leaving the kick start stuck down on the footrest, he noticed after a few hundred yards because of the noise and sprang it back but it still made the noise but now seems disconnected completely. Any ideas what i need to do and what part/s may need replacing ? Confused

Is the kick start staying up or does it fall down.It maybe the spring or the
sprocket. If the kick start is returning then the sprocket might be missing
the teeth. Not a big job but I dont know the price of the parts. It cant be
much.

The kick start springs back fine, it just doesn't engage with the engine and he has found if he lets it go all the way back it whines but if he pushes it back a fraction it stops, so he has taped it back and bumps it at the mo.

Its not the same as the aprilia.

Drain the gearbox oil, remove the coolant pipes and clutch cable. Remove all the bolts (noting where they go) and have a look at the kickstart shaft. Prob just sheared some plastic teeth off or pulled the spring out of place.

If you take a look on the derbi forum you'll find a manual.

Newer ones are the same... since piaggio brought Aprilia they all use piaggio engines now... so the 2006 onwards SX50s have the later spec derbi engine fitted! Wink
