Hi, finally sorted model out NS125 R not NSR 125 first question, what are the engine variations between the two? i have on the RH side the water pump, i notice that the later engines have the oil pump above the water pump on the RH side.

Secondly, oil - i have only literature for he NSR, i need to know what type of 2 stroke oil is used, and also transmission are any likely to be synthetic?

Cheers folks,
Radders.

I just use 10/40 car oil in the 'box. And for engine oil I use Advance VSX semi synth at £5.40 a litre from:

Hi

The NS and NSR engines are pretty much totally different engines. Honda just said SAE 10W40 SE or SF oil for the transmission.

All the best

Some car oils are not made to allow for wet clutch so you need to check
that out.

Paddy.

listen to paddy, you can't use car oil if the clutch uses the oil from the transmission, car oils have anti-stick chemicals in them which will cause serious clutch slip if used.

Occasionally true, but mostly not. Use car oils in bikes regularly and not had any clutch issues due to it.

All the best

The simple thing is to get the oil from a bike shop just in case.

Hi

True, if you want to pay massively more for the oil. I have used BP mineral, semi sythetic and fully synthetic in bikes. Bought in bulk the mineral oil was under £1 a litre. Cannot get the bike oil for a reasonable price and cannot get it in bulk 20L drums.

Only person I know who has had clutch problems due to car oil was Ste with some Texaco oil. Also heard reports about the Castrol Maganatec. Know loads of people who use car oils without any problems at all.

All the best

Keith
