Ideally get an abba stand or under yolk front stand.

You can suspend the front end, from a rafter if you have them or even something like two wheelie bins.

Make sure the bike's kept steady while you do.

Seen people use two axle stands under the rigid footpegs of race bikes.

Exhausts off and something decent under the sump should do it.

Avoid taking off the exhaust if you can as it can add complications.
Wheelie bins are handy but don't start the night before bin day. Smile

Paddy.

Just wedge something under the sump.

This was just a TZR250 so hardly heavy. But personally I'd get a trolley jack under the sump, some jacks under the pegs, and maybe a rope around a rafter just to be sure.

Trolley jack then a couple of axle stands.

The FZR had some nice engine rails to balance on the stands, the tricky bit is jacking the bike up in the first place as it tends to be a little wobbly, so try and get a second person to give you a hand.

I've just sent an email to Danny on this very subject.

You’ll need a paddock stand, and either a car jack or a front paddock stand which hooks into the bottom yoke. Put the bike on the paddock stand (or abba stand), and put a bit of wood under the exhaust downpipes and jack the bike up using the bit of wood. Because the load is distributed across the downpipes it should be pretty stable.

Get some tie downs and wrap them around the head stock and up around some rafters.

You may want to loosen the nuts a little before you balance or hang the bike.

Funny looking sump you've got there. Looks like exhaust down-pipes to me. Wink

I suggested the sump, didn't say I used it Wink

On a lighter bike the downpipes are ok IMO. Wouldn't try it on anything bigger though.

EDIT: And the sump on a 2 stroke is a touch non-existant.

Gaz, I'd say that it was OK on most 4 cyl four strokes, but two stroke expansion chambers are not known for their strength. I've never seen a dented four stroke downpipe but I've seen plenty of dented 'spanny chambers to know I'd rather try jacking under a ZX6R than a TZR or something.

Did mine not so long ago... used a trolley jack under the engine, then slipped an axle stand under the front of the frame... easy!

If you actually read the thread no-one's suggesting you put it on the downpipes.

It's even suggested you take the exhausts off and whack a jack under the sump.

MarJay: These spanny chambers were beasties, and the bike was so light I lifted it onto that box. It also had no tank on, fairings etc. It was perfectly happy.
