Im trying to learn basic wheelies (for off road purposes ofcourse), firstly trying to power wheelie in 1st, my front end hardly comes up, before i know it ive hit redline and im doing 70 Confused

So the question is, how many 600 owners can power wheelie with ease?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmduaIjSDjc

If you watch this video, you'll see the 636 lift with ease, my bike will hardly lift at that speed, they dont tell you anything about body position, am I suppose to lean back abit (which to be honest doesnt sound easy at all)

any wheelie experts in the house?

I have 600 Bandit, and have beem told its not easy to wheelie these.
Ive tryed power ones, but just felt the front end get light - thats it.
I dont think I have the gutz to try a clutch one.
Seen a few vids of a 600 bandit wheelie, looks so easy - But, no matter what I try, I just cant Thumbs Down

My SV comes up easily in first, and the slightest ridge will make the front lift in second too. However that is a V-twin and has shorter gearing, as well as a more rearward weight bias than a sportsbike.

My SV doesnt want to power wheelie, i ahve leant back yanked on the handle bars and wacked it open in first and it only to be doing 52 very quickly and the weight going of the suspension.

I am learning to clutch mine, can get it up just not keep it up ( Sad story of my life Sad ) lol not really story of my life, honest

Hopefully i will improve soon, if you have supersports 600 it should be easy to power wheelie.

Nope. Its been on the dyno and produced 90hp at the rear wheel, not as much as modern machines, but would have thought it woudl be enough.

Most I get is a small skipping over the surface - maybe 1 inch off the deck.

Its not just you!!

My Bandit 600 S (1996) is quite capable of pulling off fast, and most of the time the front only gets a bit light, with no lift. I watched the same video the other week and took my bike to a local private stretch of road and gave the clutch a quick squeeze as I cruised at 20 in first - revs rose to about 8k and the front end came up about 3 foot then eased down again!! Great fun and shows the kick that the 600 bikes have.

Worth a try but be careful cause it comes up quickly and needs to be put down gently.

Be safe, have fun!

My 636 would lift just by opening the throttle, and other 600's I've ridden will come up with a quick snap Smile even my old jellymould cbr.

Try riding along, accelerating to 5-6k and closing the throttle slightly then sharply opening it right up. Wheel should lift smoothly. You should at least feel it come up slightly, then its just a question of timing, and body position. Try sitting back in the seat as if you were on a supermoto, with arms straight Mr. Green

Clutching is the best technique Thumbs Up

Yours is a later fuel injected s model is it not? It'll be heavier at the front and probably smoother low down in the rev range. I think the way mine comes up is as a result of it being a slightly lairy curvy model that the carb fueling has been out on since it's slightly ghetto engine repair job Shifty I've got it to run right at tick over now, but it desperatly needs time on the dyno.

You need a quicker 'snap' of the throttle when opening it I suspect zed.

I have a 600 class bike and have owned/ridden a few in the past, all the fairly modern ones have been able to power wheelie.

I always used to struggle to do decient wheeling on my old gsxr 600 although it would wheelie you had to really gun it like a mad man. Then i bought an R1 and it became so much easier just crack open the throttle and its up and more controlable too.

most will wheelie, you have to get it at the right rpm, and get used to snaping the throttle, i often find a pulling on the bars helps Alot, but most 600's wont need it.

yes i can do it, rather clutch it, feels more controled.

The 05 636 is harder than the K4 GSXR, must be somthing to do with the weel base as the 636 is more powerfull and lighter? My KTM 640 would power wheelie in 1st,2nd,3rd.

but im on a litre so thats maybe why.

also lifts the front over any crest fun fun fun

Ride in 1st up to about 7k and shut the throttle completely. Wind it back on quickly and it should come up.

my tt600 will power wheelie in first to some extent without doing on off technique

going over a bump when accelerating hard is all it needs to help it go up, but it is down geared.

My 636 is light so usually surprises you & just comes up without much effort.
I prefer practicing snapping the throttle on & off then using the clutch, seems more predictable to me.
