So, me and the GF work at pubs near each other and the other day we were both starting at 12 so i agree to give her a lift on the bike as both arnt walkable.

As women do by the time were out the door were late so im riding a little faster than i normally do with a pillion and get to her work. Her pub's carpark is one of those country style ones that are stoney and generally a nightmare for a bike so im taking it easy doing a very wide u-turn with legs out just incase.

So, i stop and put the bike in neutral. She thinks she'll save me some valuble seconds by getting off at this point on left (left foot on gear selector still) and by the time i realise my baby is down Crying or Very sad . My poor baby on the floor and i turn to my GF and just stare at her. I was not happy.

The only up side of this story is that 2 days before i had my R+Gs installed at a garage (plastics needed drilling) and the damage is hardly anything, few starches on the engine casing and the R+G are only damage i can see. Though it was still annoying.

So, anyone else have experience with pillions forgetting the 5 min talk you have before they got on your bike about not getting off till your ready??

The damage:

I haven't taken Mrs Cortez on the back yet, so no similar incidents here. Thanks for the warning though...I'll give Mrs C the 5 minute talk before we set off. Thumbs Up

Bummer about your beautiful bike - damage doesn't look too bad though. Thank god for the R&Gs eh. Must get some for mine too.

Thats the thing, shes been on many times and knows about not getting off when im not ready. Oh well, when you have that talk make sure she takes it in!!!!

Yea R+Gs saved her big time, would have been so annoyed had the R+Gs still been sitting in a garage.

She did offer to pay for the damage but TBH i dont think that little damage can justify new part. Will touch it up and think it will look 99% Thumbs Up

Thats really unluckly mate. Pillions always forget what to do, for some reason a couple of people on the back of my bike decided it was a good idea to try and put their feet down when i stopped.

Also whenever i slowed down my mate josh thought we were stopping so hes trying to get off all the time ( and hes a very large guy - yes bigger than me) so it was quite difficult to keep it upright. Confused

Also, why do the feel that when you change gear is the time to wiggle?!?!?!

I swear like 4 times ive thought "ooooo rear wheel locked and im two up" for a split second till i realise.

Seriously, i swear non-bikers are retarded when it comes to bikes Laughing (though id probably be the same in their situation)

Yeah, had the same thing happen with an ex, but the other way round. Was just getting ready and she decided she'd get on the bike. Rolling Eyes I had no R&G's at that time.

Didn't fall off (luckily) but a while back me and the missus were on our way home when I went to overtake the car in front, clear road and not too fast as I had her on the back, the prick decides to pull out on me so I cant get past, nearly knocks us off and I had to try really hard to stay on the bike, THEN the missus punches me in the kidney Shocked I nearly lost it I really did. Cue me blasting past him trying to kick his wing mirror off and getting home giving her a right good bollocking. She said she punched me as she didn't realise he had pulled out and thought I was fucking about getting as close to him as I could.

Rolling Eyes

Fucking women, she has not been on my bike since, and now she is preggers she has NO chance.

Erm, that doesnt sound too great. I hate those moments where a overtake goes wrong when you have a pillion.

I hope you got that wing mirror Wink

'Tis a bugger...

I always tell pillions NOT to get on or off the bike until I have clearly said they should.

This, delivered in a gruff voice with a piercing glare, tends to sink in at least a little.

I'll still brace the bike just as soon as I've stopped moving regardless... Because there's always the one who doesn't listen... Sad

This is the thing, i had like a 15 min talk to her the first time, i even showed her how to sit on the pillion seat and what to do when leaning, braking, accerating, stopping.

I think from now on she'll get off when i say though Laughing (she still feels bad about it)

TBH a pillion who rides bikes is a worse pillion.

Whenever my dad went on the back, when we came to a standstill he would go to put his foot down and end up almost knocking the bike over.

Unlucky mate, bet she feels bad though.

I rode into my disk lock once with my ex-mrs on the back. That sucked quite a lot. Hard enough to keep it up myself, let alone with an extra body on the back.

I've had one or two close calls with pillions getting off too soon, but luckily managed to catch it before the bike went down.

My mate has an annoying habit of moving at the most inappropriate time.

Its normally when trying to filter in heavy traffic, i sware he picks the point when your going the slowest and through the tightest gap to adjust his underwear.

'tis not fun.

I've been there, 15 stone mate decided to jump on the back as I was backing the bike away from a wall. Rolling Eyes It's a sickening feeling when holding onto the bars, trying to stop it going down, when you realise you aren't going to hold it.
