So erm what do I need to do to sort this out? My only failure was;

Quote:
001: Steering Movement excessively 'notchy' with the weight on the lower bearing [2.2.1a]

So what do I have to do to rectify this problem? From what I gather from my workshop manual I need to replace an inner race bearing and an upper and lower outer race bearing? And dust seals I think.

Any help would be great, the bikes an NSR125R.

New bearings.

You need to get the forks out, yokes out press the old bearing off the bottom of the stem, press the new one on, and also replace the top bearing at the same time (just lifts out).

Bearings are only about a tenner or so, it just takes a couple of hours work to get the front off and on again.

Thumbs Up

Sounds easy enough.. I guess the hard bit will be dismantling the yoke lol.

I'll go call david silvers now, I'm glad I'm on study leave right now lol. Plenty of spare time for this stuff.

Last time i needed new head stock bearings they were £34, local bearing factors dont stock bike head stock bearings (funny sizes apparently)
So please pray tell where did you get yours from?
I am always on the look out for a good deal.

Try and find tapered bearing set if they are not standard on the NSR. They last longer Thumbs Up

I doubt the original poster is going to have the bike long enough to go through numeroud sets of head bearings.

Just thought I'd let you know I passed my mot today Very Happy

Changing the bearings was easy as I had my dad to help me, the little balls are a bit fiddly though lol. The biggest pain was getting the bike up off of its front wheel, I really wish that thing had a center stand Sad

Just been riding it around (bout 60 miles) and it feels so much better, can't believe I didn't notice anything was wrong, the bike corners so much better at speed and low speed.

Thanks for the help Smile
