Any one know if there is a generic cdi replacement for bikes?

No, no generic units. It controls the ignition timing, and the timing will vary between different engines depending on loads of factors (eg, compression ratio).

so if there were generic cdi one could make money out of them if you could make them?

No....firstly the trigger voltages vary from bike to bike, then you have the added complication of CDI's with advance curves built in, then ones that control a powervalve.....too many variables.

Maybe. There are aftermarket ignition units used to play around with the timing to get slightly more power (at the expense of needing to use high octane fuel, and removing the safety margin before you suffer from detonation). However these are generally not direct plug in units.

For normal use most people would just fit an igntion advancer.

As cdi units don't fail that often (few bikes are exceptions) then most of the time you can pick up a 2nd hand one for reasonable money.
