Hello everyone, this is my ongoing project that has been evolving over the last few years, the bike remained standard for about 2 years but over the last three years one thing seems to have led to another. I don't actually have a picture of the bike as standard on the computer but this was the first attempt at modding the bike - the can was nice but that was about it, I was never happy with the shape of the single seat unit.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/2004_0403Image0015.jpg

I decided that I wanted a rear end with a more contempory look, a pillion seat and storage so I decided on this Mito evo unit which I modded to fit myself, I had heard of this mod being carried out before so I bought the parts and got to it, afterall if someone else had managed it why couldn't I?

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/Ireland019.jpg

I fitted a tyga suzuka fairing to compliment the new rear as I felt that the origional nose was too dated.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/2004_0403Image0002.jpg

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/2004_0403Image0012.jpg

The next stage was to accumulate parts for the next stage of the build.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/2006_0503Image0014.jpg

I fitted a complete Ducati 998r front end with a modified eccentric steering cam (essentially a complicated top spacer with integrated bearing shells). I am in the process of having 2 more fitting kits made up for £70 a piece should anyone else like to carry out this mod.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/14032007306.jpg

Using a Rick Oliver hub coversion I fitted a vfr750 fr rear wheel (160 17) very easy and highly recommended well manufactured kit.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/29102006088.jpg

Modified Harris R1 rearsets, polished swingarm, modified aprilia rs250 shock and 1/2 system.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/11112006098.jpg

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/11112006100.jpg

Here's the 1st encarnation of the paint but I wasn't happy with it - more about that later.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/01022006137.jpg

I bought an unfinished project which was stripped for the parts I wanted and then the rest sold off to fund a pro respray (the first paint job was done by a mate with rattle cans). I decided that with the bike being near to completion that it would be a good idea to strip yhe bike down again and rebuild it on the black powdercoated frame.

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/17032007334.jpg

https://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p24/Riley_059/04042007366.jpg

Fitted the aprilia rs125/honda clocks which were wired by a mate of mine (cheers Triston!)

Looks good. Any engine work going on?

And has the duke front end helped?

But I preferred the original rear wheel

Hi cheers all for the positive comments - infact for any comments afterall everyone's entitled to an opinion and it won't be to everyones taste.
There isn't any engine work apart from a 1/2 system, race can and jets - it costs a fortune to get any real power out of these bikes, I'm waiting to see proof that it's possible to fit a large v twin lump into one of these bikes, theres been talk but nothing more. Some people say you'd lose the character of the v4 but come on it would be a laugh. The closest I've seen is a mock up of an sv650 lump by a guy in the states, that said sv motors are easier to gain bhp from. I'm getting off the point, so basically no.
The duke front end is stiffer and works well the main advatage are the massively powerful brakes. Again it's largely cosmetic yet functional.
The rear wheel is from the fr model and is the only suitable wheel for the conversion (5" rim) personally I like it but It must be said the origional spoke pattern is nice but the 18" rear wheel is a bit poo on the nc30, its an awkward size although the bt090's work well.
...and yes I'm another refugee from the 125cc sb site and greybike.

I've always had a thing for endurance fairings, personal taste really. The rs dash allowed me to fit a digi temp guage, clock and lap timer for the princely sum of £15, plus the amount of room to install the clocks is limited but my mate who wired it for me has offered to wire in a cbr600rr dash if I want it in the winter which is a possibility, I thought I was doing him a favour by going for a less complicated dash but he actually enjoyed doing it, strange fella really. Confused Very Happy

Would there be any issues getting a speedo reading from an RR dash?

Dear god that's awesome.

Could do with a few decals or something to break up the blocks of colour. Looks a bit too much like a track bike. Rather than the work of art it actually is.

How much did the mito subframe etc set you back? When I broke my bandit frame I really really wish I bought a different subframe and seat unit then, and bodged it all on.

Never mind, live and learn.

I think that a decal at the bottom saying Honda in yellow would break up the black. And still look really cool

Really like it Thumbs Up

Needs a honda decal on the tank too, and a small set of honda wings on the seat unit.

And what Andy said above.

Love it.

Get rid of the baby blade text. That's horrible.

Just replace with a smaller wings, just left and above the first B.

Other than that, perfect.

i thing you shoule have it all pearl black, with the honda (wing shape thing) massive and covers the whole fairings, well not overly big but so it covers most of the bike, have the logo on a rally dark red colour and kinda half transparent to the black base coat, that would look FOOOOOKN ace

Hello again, Craig, my man in the know seems to think it's a viable option - I don't understand electrics but he's an evil genius at this type of thing.
It's great to see so many views and ideas concerning the paint and I really like the Honda logo on the belly pan, I was wondering whether it would be possible to have "Riley" in the same font in its place as I like to keep people guessing, I had one bloke telling me it was a triumph when I came back to the bike park! Great work people! I'm intending to have the Riley car logo (diamond) in black in the indent on the petrol tank, otherwise I'm not intending on having any other decals - but then again you never know.
