I've had it for a good few weeks but wanted to get used to it before I started talking about it, I was quite scared of it at first!

It's a 2001 CBR Fireblade that's been converted to a Streetfighter (or simply a crashed sports bike with the fairings removed, depending on your stand point).

It's 'bits and bobs' included a pearl black paint job (sparkles!), polished frame, powder coated black swinger, Pro-taper fat bars, Akrapovic stubby end can, acerbis Cyclops headlight, Biketek alloy quick release fuel cap, undertray, braided hoses and probably more that I haven't noticed. I think it's a looker and after riding a new Z1000 the blade wins hands down (and it's a fraction of the Zed's price tag). The up-right seating position and Pro-taper bars make it feel like a supermoto, but with up to 150bhp it's pretty, well, mad as a badger!

Plans for the future include a power commander, a set of aftermarket clocks (I miss the rev counter) and some bar end mirrors (all I can see is my elbows!).

The pics:

Looks awesome and done to a good standard but if it was mine I would -

Black Renthal Fatbars SERIOSULY raised for that agressive riding position and would look better IMO but the pro tapers are good too Thumbs Up

Also buy a Acerbis DHH in all black, not keen on the cyclops thingy.

mmm I love streetfighters

That's a well sweet bike! What do you say to insurers when they ask about modifications? Does it cost a lot more/less than a standard blade to insure?

Insurance was tricky in one sense as many insurance companies said "yea, the mods are no problem" but when I dug a little deeper it turns out there were. They just wanted the sale. Some companies wanted to put me on a 'custom bike' policy, which increase the price a bit. After hunting around I got a quote for just over £200 TPFT with all the mods (28 years old with 5 years NCB). I have no idea how that compares to a standard blade though.

To be honest I quite agree, looks wise. I considered getting another Z750 (I think they're seriously under-rated bikes and regretted selling my Z750) but also quite fancied a litre bike for extra power, so tested a Z1000 but in terms of performance and/or cost the Blade is a better bike. I also quite like the fact that no-one else has the same bike Cool

I think it looks pretty mint Thumbs Up

Personally I dont like bikes without the front fairing / nose cone, when I took them off my VFR it felt relly weird and it sounds weird / gay but I felt a little less safe, not that bikes are completely safe anyway!

Anyways, hope you enjoy it!!!

I'd say that's damn impressive! I'm paying £191 for my XJ600 TPFT although I'm a bit younger and have less no claims. I just imagined it would be such a hassle to insure something like that but I want a streetfighter so much!
