Erm, whats the view on filtering in most of europe? Especially at toll booths on autoroutes/autostada's, as I know queues can be immense during busy periods Neutral

Mainly interested in how filtering is viewed, in France, Switzerland, and Italy Mr. Green

In France most people get mopeds when they are 15 so they can get around. This means that they are alot more aware of bikes when they start driving their cars, which means they get out of the way sharpish when they see bikes filtering.

Filtering is completely accepted in France/Monaco/Italy , cars will see you and move over on the open road and let you pass I even had some guys go onto the grass verge to let me pass.
Very Happy
they are alot more bike aware, as when they were all young they all had mopeds or bikes. Very Happy

filtering up to the front at toll booths also OK (though queues are pretty small). Smile

you do something illegal in France , people don't bat an eye Very Happy

Switzerland / Germany isn't so good, you do something illegal say attack filter and undertake somebody , the driver often will call the cops and dispatch somebody to issue a fine, thats what the 6 Brits told me on the Swiss Border anyway.
Mad
Say when are you going?, Nurburg ring, as said I can't get the time off but maybe I'll follow you to the ring , and turn back after a day or two there, while you can go elsewhere.

Good info hippy + itchy Karma

Itch, not sure were going to Germany. Plan is, from the chunnel, across France, to Geneva in Switzerland, then possibly Germany/Austria, and down to North Italy, then probably Livurno, Florence etc, before heading back along south of France and home.

Planning for end of August Wink
