Just wondering if anyone knows any good routes to take the bike for a ride in the north london or near area?

I usually go down to hertfordshire and around the a1000 country roads but am getting bored of it. I know there are some nice routes on way to reading from london, but thats a bit of a mission.

anyone have any other good suggestions?

I used to live in Herts and am moving back there soon, one of the reasons is the great roads.

If you know the A1000, have you turned off onto the B158 this goes through Essendon (remember to slow to 30 in my ex village) Hertford, Bengio and eventually ends up at the A10. go a bit further up the A10 and take the A507. this is one of the best roads ever. it crosses the A1m and continues.

have fun

The road that links Radlett and Shenley is fantastic...

As for North London-ish routes that don't involve Hertfordshire, out to Denham/Gerrards Cross/Slough/Amersham way via Rickmansworth/Uxbridge is always a good bet.
But for a really great route, try Leighton Buzzard. Jump onto the A41 towards Aylesbury, come off at the A414 towards Hemel Hempstead, follow the signs to Leighton (I think it's the A416). Try to do it when there's not much traffic about - there aren't many overtaking opportunities.

Essendon way all the way to Stevenage!

**EDIT**

In face, you can join us for a rideout if you like. Whereabouts in North London are you based?

I usually ride with Rift, SoulRider, CoronaBoner. (Although I've been out of the game for 2 months because of exams and illness!)

Another vote for heading up round Radlett-way. I tend to head out there and then float around aimlessly through the countryside for an hour or so. That said, I'm on a dual-purpose jobby, so it might not be as much of a hoot on a supersports litre bike.

Yeah, I do exactly the same. I'm round the corner from Elstree so it's nice and convenient for a little blast.

Will have to come and see you all.

Thumbs up for the A507 (baldock to A10) havn't had a chance to go down it on the bike, but it's fun enough in the car!

Have a nice ride circuit around Little Berkhamstead and Newgate street area.

Should be selling my 125 this week and hopefully getting a ER-5.

Am from potters Bar, so elstree is pretty close.

Anyone local drop me a PM - would love to go for a ride with someone.

I'm definitely up for that. I go riding with some friends on Friday nights, but that's not enough to feed my hunger for the twisties...

I'm starting to find riding by myself boring aswell. It feels pointless.

I went looking for it today actually but I was too stupid to stick "Essendon" into google before I left. Never seen the signs for the place... Confused

You kinda nailed it there...at the moment I find I have to follow someone faster than me in order to get any of those "giggling with glee" moments that I used to get from just opening the throttle on the Fazer. Can never be satisfied eh.

Send a message to Soulrider and tell him I told you to ask him.

Although if you people are up for a big rideout next weekend, I'm up for it.

I'll post one in the general post.

I'm local to you lot too, there are some great roads round this area.

I'll be out for a ride too, but had a bit of a set back with my engine, dam valves were not sealing in the seats so I'm just waiting for another head to arrive (from the US). Should be another week or so then fingers crossed will be up and running again.

Thumbs Up

If you're doing the A507 then make sure you get all the way past Ampthill and across to Woburn. great roads to ride around on around there and you can always pop into the Yamaha place in Flitwick..
